Aftermarket stereo wiring issue

I can't find info on this by searching... So I'll ask!

Hardware:
- 2000 4Runner Limited
- Alpine CDE-147BT

Issue:
- Tweeters don't work
- Clock is dim, and air control LED backlight is not working

Note:
- Antenna booster not plugged in
- Stock amp removed

My co-worker gave me an Alpine CDE-147BT stereo. We removed the stock amp, and connected the wiring harness. Easy, right? I see some wiring harness for sale that say "4 speaker", so I'm suspecting that I have one of those, resulting in no tweeters. But also, the dim lights are weird.

For the wiring harness... I checked the smaller of the 2 connectors in 3 locations and noticed a discrepancy in pins... See pics below.
- Stereo side: 4 male
- Car side: 5 female
- Stock amp (removed): 6 pins
I'm thinking that it's supposed to have 6 pins. 4 "normal" speakers, and 2 tweeters. Does that make sense? I'm a bicycle mechanic... We've only begun to use electronic shifting on bikes

It sounds to me like you may have some wires connected in the wrong places. When I installed my new headunit I only had one option for the wiring harness. This is the one I used. If I remember correctly the tweeters are controlled by a crossover in the door and there should only be 4 speaker leads going out of the head unit. I would sugest calling crutchfield and asking them. They are super helpful and really knowledgeable.

x2 on Crutchfield, that is if you got the harness from them. If not, ask and order theirs.

I know it doesn't seem like it, but we only have 4 speakers. The rears are co-axial speakers, meaning the woofer and tweeter cones are one unit. The front are component speakers, meaning the woofer and tweeter are separate with a crossover unit for better clarity and sound quality. Still only counts at 2 speakers up front and 2 in back.

Your harness is either the wrong kind or you blew a fuse.
