So i JUST called Metra and was given an ETA of 3-4 weeks if you have an order that is labeled as "backorder". If you were to order right now, it would take 6-8 weeks.

I'm thinking there's no use calling them and asking anymore. I just keep getting told another 2 weeks, another 2 weeks, another 4 weeks.

They are actually not available yet. According to Metra, they are currently working on the Mustang dash kit as top priority and then our 4Runner dashkit has second priority. I keep getting told 2 more weeks but I've been told that same thing several times for the past 2 months.

Yes, you CAN order them online, but it will be backordered because even the factory isn't done with making them yet. If you call metra, dial ext 2482 and talk to Mike. He is extremely helpful and very nice to talk to about what's holding things up.

As soon as I get my dash kit, I'm going to paint it black to match the other two (vertical) silver pieces that I converted to matte black (which looks MUCH better btw).

hrm. You may be right. I never received my tracking# today. I will definitely give an update when I get it along with pics.

Just got this email, gues the dash kit wont be out until summer or longer, otherwise they would keep backordering.

I got a call today saying that my Metra kit will be in June 10th. I am not counting on it but will update when the day comes. Oh yeah, it was ordered through a place here in CT...

I ordered my metra double din kit a couple weeks ago from installer.com. I was told it was on backorder. They just emailed me today saying it shipped today via Priority mail. Couple days! Woohoo! Now just have to tell the wife I "need" to drop a grand on a stereo

not trying to be a d!ck, but i wouldn't get my hopes up just yet if i were you...
i hope i'm wrong, but i very highly doubt that you are getting the kit for the 2010 Runners. you might be getting a kit for another make or model or even year. i say this because i have been in contact with Metra for the past 2 months speaking with several of their own reps who say the kit has not hit the assembly line yet.

if you do end up getting your kit and it turns out to be for a 2010 Runner, then I will have some words for metra and their reps, and i don't mean the kind of words that make a person want to :dancin:

I called installer to double check and make sure i ordered the correct kit and I was told metra just finished the first kits. He told me instead of waiting to manufacture a whole pallet of kits like for the latest camaro, metra is shipping the kits in "1 and 2's" i guess time will tell.

I also got my tracking number for the Metra dash kit yesterday. I ordered it from installer.com(River Oaks Car Stereo) a couple of months ago and they are supposed to be here on Tues. June 1st. I'm right up the road from Houston. We'll see if they got it right!

Well, I called my install shop (who ordered the kit for me) and they said that something (that was ordered a while back) arrived in their warehouse Friday but they're not sure if it's my Metra dash kit or something else. So I'm going to call back on Tuesday when they'll retrieve it from the WH to see if it's my kit. I hope so *fingers crossed*!!

If it turns out to be my kit, I'm planning on painting it flat black before I have them put it back on in an effort to get my "Interior Silver-to-Black Conversion" project going along. I've already started so this will be the next step.

Just checked my UPS tracking and thought it would be on my porch. But they asked for sig. delivery!!Probably cause these things are rarer then hens teeth.
Per tracking....."FORT WORTH, TX, US 06/01/2010 6:45 P.M. THE RECEIVER WAS UNAVAILABLE TO SIGN ON THE 1ST DELIVERY ATTEMPT. A 2ND DELIVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE"

Mine is @ the shop! I've got the day off tomorrow and will be picking it up tomorrow to paint it matte black and then will have them install it. Can't wait!!!

Could one of you guys get a decent picture of it before you paint it? I'm curious how closely it matches the factory color. I don't like when things look overly 'after market'.

sure, i'll snap a before and after...
now, all i have to do is find a secluded, public, outdoor area with no breeze where i can paint the piece since I'm currently at school and don't have my own garage...
