Its my understanding that the satellite radio module is actually built in to the factory HU...at least when I did my install I never came across a separate module for it.

I believe our satellite module is located under the driver seat (I KNOW it was there in our 08 Highlander), as it was added "at the port" right before delivery to the dealer.

In the LE it's under the passenger seat. You can get an adapter to use the factory antenna but there isn't anyway to use the factory satellite. You either need to buy a stand alone unit or the correct module for your aftermarket head.

It's possible you could figure out a way to use the factory sat module with an aftermarket headunit, but it's unlikely. It would definitely involve some sort of custom adapter/converter unit that I doubt anyone makes.
After reading through this thread and talking to the local Car Toys folks, I am looking for a little clarification on the steering wheel controls when installing an aftermarket deck. It seems that a number of people have reported success in retaining all steering wheel control functions (using the Pac SWI-xxx or ASWC Interface units). My question relates to the voice command button (below the phone connect/disconnect buttons on my new 2011 T4R Limited). Can you really program this button to activate the voice command functionality on the aftermarket HUs? For example, does pressing that button perform the same function as pressing the talk button in the lower left corner of the Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT (the little talking head)? My understanding from the installers is that the buttons can only be programmed for functions that the HU makes available for "remote" access. Further research online has indicated the same thing. Crutchfield says, "You can assign the buttons on the steering wheel to any of the 9 specific functions: Volume Up, Volume Down, Mute, Track/Seek Up, Track/Seek Down, Source, Preset/Disc Up, Preset/Disc Down, and Band." Car Toys said they typically program this button to Mute/Unmute so that it has some functionality.
I ordered the Limited without NAV in anticipation of installing an aftermarket deck, but the steering wheel control to initiate voice commands is pretty important to me as I use them often.
As a side note, I also looked at the "remote" commands for the Kenwood decks, and there was no voice command functionality listed there either.

Hitman, I had a x920bt installed and the installers were able to make the voice command button on the steering wheel work just like the talking head button on the HU. Not sure which interface they used, but I think it was the ASWC.
They weren't able to make the answer/hang up buttons work, though. Anyone been able to make those work with an AVIC unit? If so, I'd like some info so I can take it back to them and see if we can figure it out.

Over the holidays I had an AVIC z120BT installed using the PAC SWI PS interface and my steering wheel phone controls work fine. I haven't checked out the voice command function on steering wheel but I'll do that and see if it is working. I've just been having fun with the voice command on the AVIC--cool to be able to name an artist/song and have the system play it. I have a 2010 SRS.
Also, I had a JBL MS-8 sound processor installed under the passenger seat and the sound quality is great. Tried to save a few bucks and replaced the stock speakers with Kickers that were on sale. They sound good but I will probably replace the front speakers with JLs when I get a chance. On the SR5 not having a front center channel makes the two front tweeters and door speakers do a lot of work and I think that JLs will sound better.

What companies use the same Nav 'system' as Garmin? It looks like Kenwoood does, are there any others out there, just curious?

To my knowledge only Kenwood uses Garmin. I believe Alpine and Pioneer do their own systems (or at least have at some point), and others probably outsource to other nav companies like TomTom.

Pioneer uses Tomtom software with it's 3d interface and it's a little more advanced then the Toyota's Tomtom nav software.Kenwood is the only one I've ever seen that uses Garmin software.
For you that bought the new Pioneer Avic's I found a couple of blind screen options that are pretty cool.
Hold down the "HOME" button for 3 seconds and the screen goes black but the music still plays. To bring it back up ,just touch the screen anywhere. Great for night driving!
Another one is .... hold down the "MODE" button for 3 seconds and a hidden screen comes up to adjust the screen properties....like contrast ,dimmer sensativity ,brightness ect. Touch the screen and it goes away!
Anybody have any more?

very interested in this.. Anyone without the JBL system replaced the rear passenger side panel with the factory JBL subwoofer panel? Have a part #?

Did you do any kind of Search?
To search a forum ....
It's the search in the blue bar,4th one over from the right .Between "Quick Links" and "New Post"
There will be a drop down when you click on it and then click "ADVANCED SEARCH" and it will take you to a separate search page.
In your case search by keyword "Stereo" and there's a dropdown below it asking search "entire post" or "search titles only"
Then go down on the right side where it says search in forums and highlight 5th Gen T4R's
Then click the "SEARCH NOW" box
It came up with 360 hits talking about "Stereo" in the 5th Gen section.

It's much simpler to ask questions on those and bring them to the top then open a whole new thread. Imagine if all 231 post in the aftermarket stereo started new threads. I usually just ignore redundant threads when people don't know how to search but alot of people get upset. Your new here so just trying to help you out.Welcome!
By the way to the admin ....the big Search T4R.org google search tool bar is about worthless..... but I guess they are helping pay the bills?

I did, It's a bit expensive but retains the stock look. I bought the following:
64730-35140-C0 - panel
86150-0w120 - speaker assembly (box & speaker)
91631-j0612 - bolts to mount the Speaker assembly
I added a aftermarket JL Audio 250/1 monoblock subwoofer amplifier.
I ended up replacing the woofer with a 8W0-4 - JL Audio 8" SVC Subwoofer.
