Aftermarket tire/wheel issue

OP- I literally have the same setup except mine is 12' Ltd......never had a problem with the wheels/tires shaking or anything like that so I'm afraid I won't be able to help much...there is another poster on here that has the same setup who goes by "Kingpin" I believe.....I also think "Ride" had the same setup until he went down to 18's.....never saw anything from them complaining about shaking.....I ordered mine through Tire Rack and went to local shop here in LA for install (Stokes Tires)......

Hi guys I'm hoping you can provide some insight on a problem I have been having since I installed my aftermarket wheels and tires.

I installed 20" KMC Addicts wrapped in Nitto Terra Grappler 285/50/20 on my 2012 SR5. I am very happy with the look and performance but I have a slight to severe shake in the steering wheel and seats. I have tried everything I can think of...rotated tires, regular balance, hunter force road balance (they were also shipped to me road force balanced but I had them redone as well). Nothing helps. It typically starts out as a severe shake when I start out then decreases to an annoying shimmy after about 10 miles or so.

After every balance I have had the tech said he had no problems getting them balanced. Do I have a bad tire(s)? Wheels? Is this a known issue with the Terra Grapplers? I'm at a loss. Thanks for any suggestions.

Oh and in regards to hub rings. I remember thinking rings was the solution and then when i was looking for a ring there was NO ring that would fit the very small difference (like 1mm).

What size were you looking for? I got one's that were 108-106 for mine they looked super thin but fit great.

Usually a road force balance is the way to go...

I would recommend using Extended Thread "ET" style lug nuts on any aftermarket "lugcentric" wheel and torque to spec.

Not saying these will cure your issue but I've found that they help tremendously.

The burning smell means something is not right... Check your e-brake, make sure it not set, even a little bit.
