Aftermarket TPMS on my '18 is killing my Xmas buzz

Happy New Year all! I'm super frustrated trying to get my aftermarket TPMS set up. Here's the skinny:

Got mounted Falken AT3W's on Lonestar rims with TPMS (VDO 7002A TQ70 BLUE 315 REDI)

Take it to local corner garage for install - Nice guys but there is a language barrier - after some confusion I figure out they use Autel and it wont read the sensor.

I decide to DIY so I can swap summer/winter. I call ATEQ and they advise, so I purchase the ATEQ Quickset, and VT31.

Quickset reads the OEM wheel sensors off the OBD - I store in my PC

VT31 arrives yesterday I update the unit, will read the OEM sensors, but will not pick up the VDO aftermarkets.

Researching VDO, they say I don't need a trigger device (the VT31) and vehicle will pick up sensors automatically. .... I wish, but we know that's not what happens in the real world.

Not sure how to proceed?
- are the sensors 'asleep'?
- do I need to initiate the re-learn procedure in the vehicle? If so how?
- do I need to go to the dealer? ..(UGH$$$)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Seems like a ton of trouble and extra $ for that little piece of mind. Personally I check my air pressure twice per month in the winter (invest in an accurate gauge) and honestly, a well cut & placed piece of electrical tape takes care of that annoying little yellow indicator light until the spring :wink2:

Can't be more help than that but if I were to use the sensors I guess I'd just buy OEM and have the dealer program. You should get 4 good winters out of your rubber so likely worth the investment on top of the tires / rims.
