I'm finally having my frame welded where there was some serious rot....I just dropped my truck off after work and hopefully everything will go smoothly....after this expense then I'll be getting an intake and maybe an exhaust down the road...I love my 4Runner it has totally won me over completely....I get so many compliments on her

regarding the air-intake..It's up to you, but I'd skip the intake and just get an AIRAID MIT (modular intake tube). You keep the stock airbox and only replace the tube that goes to the Throttle Body. I've had the K$N air intake, the deckplate mod and the stock airbox. The stock airbox is best IMO. You'll lose low end torque with the CAI. Hope you don't mind the advice. Get a TRD exhaust if you can find one, mine has 85,000 miles on it with no issues. Best $800 I've spent.

I'll post some before and after pics when I get her back...the K&N air filter and intake is over 250 bucks..I appreciate any advice I can get....I've put nearly 10k on this truck since I bought it in April. Here's a pic of her to hold you guys over until I get her back....I'm lo a ding the picture from my phone...hopefully it doesn't post it upside down...This is from the other night

Looks like they just welded new metal over the top of the rusted section. Did they are least remove the rust frame and treat it some? I'd be a little pissed if that's what I got for a frame repair. That's just me though. Capping the rusted area like they did will help some, but you're ultimately going to have the same problem. I had the same issue and repaired it myself. I ended up cutting out the frame a good 1" above the rust and welded in a new piece. What it looks like they did is just a band aid.

Yikes that was pretty bad before! Looks so much better now! Is that the only spot? With that much rust there has gotta be more rust hiding INSIDE the chassis beams/tubes, Try this stuff Internal Frame Coating w/Spray Nozzle | Eastwood

IMO it works really well, the only other thing that works as good that I have found is pure liquid beeswax.

The pictures I took weren't very good....they cut out a lot of the bad areas on the rear of the frame...I can see all the weld marks and they did a good job...the place I took my truck too works on these 4Runner frames and Tundras and Tacomas...besides I'm not planning on putting a lift on my truck or doing serious off roading with it...I'm happy with the work they did

The frame on the drivreside by the gas tank the only rotted spot was on the bottom about 4 inches right next to the gas tank. the rest was fine so they didn't have to do much work on that side...the passenger side rear part of the frame was much worse they had to cut out more of the frame...and like I said the pictures aren't great that I took plus I was rolling in the dirt to take them..I can tell where all the new metal was welded and it was were there was the rot even on the sides...I trust they know what they are doing since they have worked on many of these 4Runners and have a good reputation....You'll just have to take my word on it...I am happy with the work they did.
