Ahh.. Sport Bumper Trim..??

i didn't notice any changes at all in the weight affecting the driving characterisitcs of the 4runner. if you looks at some other trucks/suv's i see RAV4's with heavier full front end guards. my uncle used to have a geo tracker with a guard, and that thing weighed a whole lot more than my bull bar.
 
Did you install it yourself or did a local shop do it? I looked around and they want $90 bucks for the installation.
 
i saved myself 200 bucks (front and rear). it's a very easy install. 6 mounting points. if you need pictures, let me know.

byt he way, where are you guys ordering from? and how much they charging you? did you check out autoseattle.com? for me...it was the least expensive place (though i didn't buy from them). i only found out about them AFTER i ordered mine from somewhere else. :arrow:

Actually, based on a previous message you posted about Auto Seattle I was going to go with them. But, I actually went with Auto Anything because they offered free shipping for the same price of $388.95.

If you could post some pics of the installation that would be great.
 
i'll try to get some pictures by saturday, latest sunday. i have exams and work tomorrow and work saturday, so i can't get it to ya any sooner. sorry!
 
No problem.... let me ask you something else... somewhere I read that you had to remove the factory tow hooks and replace them with a kit that comes in the box. Can you verify that?
 
for the front bull bar...you do no have to remove factory tow hooks. for the rear...there's a tow hook on the driver side. you need to remove it and then put the mounting bracket for the rear bar between it and the frame. pretty straightforward. no modifications or drilling.
 
Noloc, are you getting the rear too? I am leaning away from getting the rear now. Something about the shape of it just doesn't sit right with me. I think it is the bar cutting through the silver bumper piece area. I also think the way it is on the side of the bumper seems a little wierd. Both of these could just be the camera angle though. I think I am going to get the silver bumper pieces chromed first, before I make a final decision on the rear. I think that will dress it up enough for me. I do like the idea of it protecting me from parallel parkers and that I don't see any on the road with this rear bar.
 
Luxury ... I'm actually just getting the front bull bar. I have to agree with you about the look of the rear bar. I'm not too fond of the way it looks. To me it almost looks out of place there especially how it hangs on the sides. Besides, I don't do much parallel parking for it to make a difference. If I lived in a major city where all I could do is parallel park then I would consider getting it just for the protection.

You mentioned you were thinking about getting the rear silver piece chromed. Would they have to remove the entire bumper to accomplish this or is it a separate piece?

My answer is no...Look what happened to mine:

The good news is that I hit a girl that I was dating at the time (OK not her, but her car), so I didn't have to pay her a dime. I was way more pissed off than she was. I am going to get the T&H bar now, but will have to patch the holes in my bumper. I like the look of it a lot, but it is too fragile and way overpriced. The T&H looks better and is not much more expensive.

actually.....the sport bumper goes for $550 at the dealer, so the CHROME T&H is less expensive, and the BLACK T&H is much cheaper.

Good point. The best I have seen for the Sport Trim is around $475. The T&H is only $388.

Correct me TranceKrayz if I am wrong, but aren't your bars pretty shinny? Almost like chromed?

Now that you mention it, it is shinier than I thought. I remember it being pretty dull at the autoseattle site, so I went back and checked. They have a pretty good gallery of photos. Some look dull and others look polished. I am pretty sure that it is just the lighting making them look dull. I will go and check one out in person before I get anything done. These are all just ideas right now.

Yeah, the Seattle sky probably has the affect frequently.
 
While we are questioning the details of the T&H....Trance, I've got one for ya. On this and other pics from Autoseattle there is a black badge/sticker/something on there. What is it? Did you have to remove it?

I also see light mounting points on this, but not on yours? Did you remove them?
