Aiden James Customs - Anyone heard from them lately?

Kicking someone when they’re down, or holding a company accountable for making customers wait 1 1/2 years for merchandise. :der:

I've read this exact same line probably 20 times in this thread. Thank you for the reminder. For a moment there I almost forgot and decided to open my wallet and order from products from AJC.

Point being damage has been done. This is becoming more of a angry mob mentality than constructive anymore and it's sad what we see on CNN is happening in the forums too.

in all fairness, i trashed aiden james, but when i saw the tjm airtec snorkel at the great price he had it for. Ordered it. This in stock item shipped quickly.

Definitely needs to up the game a bit on his custom products though.

When was that order placed?

You are wrong in so many ways and I’m done trying to explain things to people here that I am going to fix it and make things right. You won’t believe what I have to say anyhow and I need to focus my time and communication efforts on current customers, not those who don’t plan to be anyhow. It’s wasted effort.

This attitude is what turns me off from ever wanting to do business with you, and I've seen your posts on fb groups as well. I'm sure you'll be just fine without my business, however I've wanted your custom bezels since I bought my 5th gen over a year ago. Reviews and comments like this one below is why I stray away from doing business with you, this has been an established pattern of behavior for a year and a half as shown in this thread. You can say it's a wasted effort to speak to me as a prospective customer, unfortunately your track record speaks for itself.

I think you make a great product. And I want it.

It sucks that it's been 6 months of waiting, and sounds like I'll have to wait 3 more based on your last email to me. It looks like you're making some moves to improve your business, which is great. But that doesn't help those of us who have been waiting patiently before you made that move.

It would be nice to get a little more out of this than improved communication. The 3 month lead time that you had listed on your site when I purchased was a little disingenuous.

I've waited long enough at this point that I'll stick it out, because like I said, I want your product. But even if the product exceeds my expectations when I do finally get it, it will be hard for me to recommend AJC to others.

I don't know what your profit margins are, or what the financial status of your business looks like. But if this was something ordered from some other business, I'd honestly expect a discount or something additional to make up for (what seems like) the initial hoodwinking. That's what would help fix your reputation, at least among those of us who have been waiting longer than the stated lead time.

Good luck with everything.
3 month lead time leading into 9 months is absolutely unacceptable, especially given the lack of communication and a horrible way to do business IMHO. Don't bother responding to my comments since you obviously have SUCH better things to do, wouldn't want to waste your time

I'd like to spend a few minutes clearing some things up hopefully for the last time since I literally have to check back here to see what I must answer to.

1: No order has ever been a year and a half old. A year yes and I have answered directly to the customers about those and have a plan in place now (And YES, I understand my communication sucked and that I am behind the eight ball which I will explain in greater detail in this post). Gobi is 18 months consistently with far more employees. Two wrongs don't make a right but please don't make this out like I am the only one who takes a long time for custom products.

2: I stated I have recently invested in a company to build these going forward, and some have brought up not charging until the item ships. What will take place is, all current open orders are currently being built and fulfilled by me. Once the new company is set up (Pushing to make it all settled and done by end of February at the latest), any remaining current open orders will be fulfilled first by the kits they build. Once all open orders are fulfilled and we have new kits in stock, we will start selling the kits again. Only in stock kits will be sold going forward.

3: Back to communication...That is a moot point now as I have made the below changes:
*I have assigned myself set hours each morning prior to going into the shop to follow up on email, DM's, PM's, texts, calls and submit orders to companies to fulfill orders from the prior day/weekend. Every morning from 6-8am pst I am now doing that. Monday's are a full admin day meaning all I do is communication/order related tasks from the weekend. No email/call/text etc goes unanswered for more than 24-48 hours, except for rare occasions like this weekend where we were out of the office since last Friday and even then, I took some time to answer people (like I did here) and set an out of office so people know what to expect.

Further-more with regards to those with bezel kit orders, as I stated prior, those customers have a specific email address now that does not have all the other traffic such as random questions about tire size and check out my China LED kits you should sell. Regardless of time of day (Well, other than after hours when I am possibly sleeping), those emails get first priority and answered immediately. The spreadsheet I mentioned is because in the last year I switched from a Godaddy online store to a Shopify online store (Had major issues with the Godaddy one) and in an effort to not only have a simple list of open orders in front of me daily, it was also the easiest way for me to set commitments for building the kits that I can hold myself to and be able to better communicate those commitments to the customers. Having all those order floating around between hundreds of other orders in my online store order list was not sufficient nor did not help me organize them well. So far it is working perfect as I have already fulfilled many on the list.

4: I am subscribed to this thread as I am other threads and the only time I am notified of a new comment is if I am tagged in it like I was by @sakar

5: You may call what I have said excuses however I provided info that is truly fact. I have been unable to buy the OEM bezels fast enough from Toyota due to them not making them fast enough. I truly have 50 pairs ordered through the dealer I used to work for. I may at best get a couple pairs a week. I have done heavy searching and have found I can get replicas from carparts.com and have ordered several from them from time to time however, some of the same issues, (This has happened more than once) they show 9 of one side and 3 of the other side in stock so I click to buy them all. A few hours later or the next day I get a call/email stating they don't have that many in stock and have cancelled my order or sent me what they have. Now I got 3 of one side and 1 of the other with no help in knowing when they will have stock again. I did further research and found the Chinese company that makes the bezels for them and contacted them through an industry friend who is not only Chinese but can assist with the importing. The only way they would sell them to me was if I bought a full container minimum quantity of 6,000 pieces at $42,000. Sorry guys but that isn't going to happen. That's the bezel issues, when I was a tech full time and doing AJC on the side, I would build kits at night and early in the morning while my family was asleep. Now that I have parted ways with Toyota and am running AJC full time, part of that decision was so I can focus on this biz that I started and also working toward getting these kits out faster. I haven't been as fast as I need to be, but I also need to make a living so taking in work in the shop gives me a paycheck so I can put food on the table. Well, I have found the kits still aren't going out fast enough to catch them up. I tried hiring guys to build the kits thinking that would help. One guy I could never get in to train due to his schedule, and the other guy is so slow and cannot do a clean enough job it didn't work out. I had to go another route which is why I did more work and have now made an investment to have a company that does this type of thing get set up to build the kits for me going forward.

6: I stated I wasn't going to keep answering here but I realized I was wrong in that thought process, even if I feel it is people trolling. I do care about my kits and biz but furthermore, the customers. Unlike what happened to Pelfrey, I am vocal even if it isn't what someone wants to hear. I am not back hiding out and if alerted (If I don't see something related to my or AJC), I will jump in and try to answer. I am not going anywhere and will get the orders caught up.

7: I am actually thankful to Victor ( weeeee ) for removing me from the Facebook group he is an admin of as it opened my eyes to realize those groups (and quite frankly like this thread has become) are a distraction into me getting things turned around. I would get tagged in the groups many times each day and would find myself putting a tool down and answering. That only slows me down from finishing work on a vehicle, changes my train of thought and also kept me from putting orders together. I removed myself from all Facebook groups I was part of (minus the two I am an admin in) since then and have been able to focus on doing the best for my customer far better. It has also allowed me to step back from trying to sell products and focus on the vehicles in front of me and the orders in front of me.

Lastly and this is primarily for ( weeeee ), the lies I was speaking of were primarily those Jonathan was putting out there. He felt he knew things but he did not have the facts and it was with regards to Hefty which I spoke to Chris about and Chris agreed with me and is all good there. He also said some things that I thoroughly explained to him were false and proved to him but he was set in his ways for some unknown reason. Chris who is a good friend of his doesn't know fully what his issue is. Another was with a gentlemen who contacted Hefty stating he ordered Hefty products from me which he did not. That customer back peddled and is now set up with an appointment to get all his stuff installed by me on 2/5. I couldn't answer to those as you had already removed me. As for your comments of customers ordering parts and me waiting until later to submit them to the manufacturer, that is false minus one instance where I missed sending an order in to C4. That was when I had the Godaddy online store which sucked big time. I process between 30-50 orders myself each week (That is in stock parts and/or drop ship parts) so for one person doing it all I may make a mistake sometimes. There have been a couple issues where somewhere between me sending the order to a company and them receiving it failed (I won't mention the company) but that got straightened out fairly quick, even if I took the hit on extra charges and typically still within the quoted lead time or close to it. That same company just sent me a customers order that should've gone to his Texas address and I paid and sent it to him and am not recouping the charges back from said company. It is extremely hard to be a dealer for companies that build products or have a lead time as I become the bad guy if said company goes over their quoted lead time. All I can do is properly communicate and am doing that now as stated above.

I have unfortunately been slow to get changes made but I am making them now. For myself and those involved, enough is enough. I know I have not been perfect and am working on doing whats right.

Hopefully that clears some things up and will allow people to give me a chance to prove myself.

Sincerely,

Scott

if you are sincere, and you sound it. you can prove it to everyone by doing what you said. I for one am willing to give you a second chance. I look forward to ordering them once you are back on track

Willing to give him another chance as I'm just ordering bulbs...

Shot him an email asking what shipping time would look like for what I'm needing and if they're currently in stock. I'll keep you all posted as I hear back.

Sounds like Toyota-Tech is sincere - I don’t even know what he sells - no dog in this fight. Running a business, especially a new one, is really hard - he’s doing what a lot of others haven’t - communicating and admitting his mistakes.

If I were him, I’d stop responding to stuff on this thread - must be a massive time suck.

People, we are all human, let’s try to go easy on each other, even when annoyed
