Air Bag Cradle

I'm about to install a set of Airlift 1000 airbags to help when towing the boat and the trailer. A friend told me that airbags limit full rear suspension travel and recommended Daystar Air Bag Cradles.

What say the hive?

You will have no issues with travel and airbags by themselves

Also, I see no way to make those work on the back of a 4Runner. That is made for a leaf spring setup. Your bags will be inside a coil spring.

Tell your friend to let me know when he figures out how to make a gas (air) incompressible. Until he does air will not limit suspension travel. Air bags will simply act as a "helper" to stiffen your rear springs slightly. Always remember the Ideal Gas Laws and you will never go wrong!

EDIT: After further review I stand firm on my assertion with one caveat: The actual casement material of the air bag COULD limit travel (fully stretched) but not the act of adding the air bag itself.

It can limit on a leaf spring setup, but not on a coil spring setup. If I put my truck on the lift the axle will only drop as far as the bags let it, unhook the bag brackets and the axle drops another couple inches. Not much on the lift, but when articulating that would quickly multiply.

1) Burritos from a roach-coach will create gas that is far from Ideal.
2) Never eat beans the day before a job interview.

The bags are typically bolted down to a bottom plate. In that video it shows the bag unbolted from the bottom to allow more travel. If you did not have this product you would have to have the bag bolted at the bottom mount as well as the top. Make sense?

I am hoping that this is what the OP's friend was talking about, I was giving the benefit of the doubt :bolt:

I watched the video again to the end this time, and wouldn't you know it, at the end of the video it showed a link to how to install airbags (so naturally I watched that too, lol). I see what you mean by they are bolted together normally though, thanks for the clarification!
