Air bags in rear springs..

has anyone done this? everytime i tow the rear sags.. i'm hoping this will help fix the problem.. can someone point me in the right direction? i have a 03 SE V8 with cornfed 3" lift w/ XREAS..

So a search here for Air Lift 1000. These should fix the problem- $75 from Summit Racing. Id give you my first hand impression, but theyre still sitting in the box waiting to be installed.

Yup, you'll want to get the correct part number for the 4Runner: 60809

It doesnt take a whole lot of weight for the rear to sag. My boat and trailer weighs less than 4k lbs and Im past level.

Air bags are a good inexpensive solution for the sag. I ran them for wile then went to OME 3in heavy springs - and took out some spacer.

This is a pix of the old set up. You have to trim the bump stop and can run the line up to the fule door for quick adjustments. I did not even remove the springs to install. Just jacked it up.

I have the one from the factory. It is very convenient. Reduces all the sag. I would suggest it if you tow.

I've got them too.

The work great and are a must for towing or hauling loads. Aside from staying level when towing, my ride is better too. I was hitting the bump stops (which are really firm) when towing, and that made the stock ride harsh. Now it never hits the bump stops becuase of the "progressive spring rate" effect the air bags.

I have had almost continual leakage problems with my AirLift 1000s. The hose is always getting a little kinked coming out of the bag, and then it leaks. I have tried various things, including putting another, protective hose around the area were it kinks.

When they work, they do a nice job. My tongue weight is right around 650, and it keeps things up. I do have a weight distribution hitch which does most of the leveling, but that last 1" needs the air bags. With the bags, my headlights are just a little high, and blinds oncoming traffic.
