Air Induction Pump Popping Noise

I have a 2016 4runner with 12k miles on it. Lately, when I turn off the truck I notice right after the "hissing" noise ends it is followed by a "pop" noise as well. Don't know if this is normal or not, but no codes have been thrown. Just wanted to see if you guys have heard the pop noise as well. I'll probably be scheduling an appointment with the dealer to check if anything is wrong.

I've heard it multiple times, I've just learned to embrace all its weird noises at this point.

I honestly don't care about the noise and I have embraced it quite frankly. The only reason for my concern is due to reading on the Tundra forums of individuals who have experienced pre-mature failure of the AIP system costing them several thousands of dollars. I'm still going to take it into the dealer to have them document the pop just in case. Will keep you guys updated.

Would love an update on this! Mine does the same thing, but I honestly can't say how long it's been doing it. I did have my wife crank it and turn it off while I looked under the hood, and the sound is not coming from the pump--it sounds lower and further back.

I believe the air pump fan shuts down and then spins in reverse when the engine is turned off.

Totally normal, my FJ did it, the 4Runner does it, my coworkers Tundra does it. All sound exactly the same.

Same here - I barely noticed mine doing that a few weeks ago. 2016 Trail. Getting my 10K Service done today and was going to ask the dealership what the deal was.

Sorry for not posting update. I had taken it to the dealer and stated it was normal. No worries guys, enjoy the truck .

Same noises here in my 2013. You should hear the half dozen strange noises my hybrid Camry makes for as long as 2 minutes after I shut it down :crazy:
