air intake 1998 4runner limited

Hi there I was hoping to get some advice on a air intake system. Has anyone have one and if so any advice on how to install as well as if it is worth doing. Like do you get better fuel economy.

I've got an Injen intake on mine and a borla catback exhaust and gained a couple mpgs. Alot of people on here will say the intakes do nothing tho. . . :shrug: Now its SC'd and I've stopped caring about mpg's for a little bit.

I went with the Airaid tube. I was doing the ISR mod when I noticed a healthy tear in the stock rubber intake tube. I checked around at junk yards without any luck and being Arizona and how dusty it is here I just went with the Airaid. I like it a lot. Clean, easy install. I put that with a K&N in the stock air box (someday I will put on a snorkel). I noticed better power on the highway but that's really it. Nothing to go crazy about. It is also really loud when you have to get into the throttle.
My last car I gained 10 HP redoing the intake and exhaust. I know because I put it on a dyno. So I figured what the hell and started to do the same with the 4Runner.

If you google exactly what I wrote the second thing that comes up on google results is page two of someone else asking about cold air intakes. Just browse around that thread and it may help you out.

And my opinion on an intake set up for the 5vzfe is simple... Why? You aren't going to get a noticeable power increase. All you will really gain is the sound of having an intake.

I also went with a AirRaid intake and their no oil Filter.
Their filter fits the airbox properly and not like the K&N that I took out and tossed which was very thin and had to have a "plastic cage" attached first but never seemed to fit tightly all around.

I have the deckplate mod, AiRaid tube and no oil filter and changed muffler to a Borla Turbo XL.
I get between 1-2MPG better mileage on highway and notice a slight increase in get up and go.
