Air Supension with X-REAS

I have a 2004 4Runner 4X4 V8 and was wondering if anyone has installed an air supension kit? I tow a Weekend Warrior Toy Hauler and would like a little more lift in the back end.

It couldn't be that hard since there is a factory option package on the limited for X-Reas along with air suspension and side/curtain airbags for about 1200 total.

Does anyone have part numbers? I bet buying the parts to add would cost much more than the sticker option.

I am sure there are plenty of aftermarket air suspension kits you can add.

Yeah I'd bet it costs 5 times as much to buy and install aftermarket as it would to just add from the factory if you had a limited.

However, I think the OEM air suspension is really mainly intended for trailering and load balancing. Not off-roading. But I guess it could help a little nonetheless.

The good news:
Yes, I have installed one of the "Air Lift Company kits" and it seemed to work just fine. ( http://www.airliftcompany.com )

The bad news:
I didn't install it on my 4th gen 4runner and I'm not sure that they have a kit for the 4th gen 4runners yet.

Actually it is option "NF Rear Air Suspension w/X-Reas Shocks" @ $1,400.00"
option "GY Driver & Passenger Curtain & Side Airbags" adds another $650.00

I suspect that it would be like adding factory lockers to an FZJ80 that didn't come with them. (cost prohibitive through the toyota parts counter, but I could be wrong)

It has 2 functions
(1) Self Leveling as you pointed out

(2a) Ability to manually raise the rear from a console mounted switch (automatically returns to normal at 19 mph I believe)

(2b) Ability to manually lower the rear from a console mounted switch ( automatically returns to normal at 12 mph I believe)

While raised it should help departure angle of a stock vehicle.

It could either simplify or complicate lifting the vehicle with aftermarket kits...........

If I lift the front 2 inches with a kit will it self level?
