Airbag light on, Passenger side chime not working

I have 2010 4runner SR5. I have following symptoms:

1. When engine ignited

2. No matter passenger seated or not

3. Airbag light on dash is on

4. Passenger side buckle warning light flashing (below central dash)

5. "Airbag Off" light on (below central dash)

6. No chime

7. No difference if buckle up the belt or not

8. Driver side belt chime and flashing are normal

I have re plugged all connectors under the passenger seat. I suspected bad switch in seat buckle. Replaced buckle no help.

It is very appreciated if anyone can share your opinions and comments.

Had this happen in a vehicle last month. Problem was the wiring harness had been damaged by crumb eaters stuffing things under the seat. I'd try to trace the rest of that harness to find the break.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't observe anything damaged. I re plugged all connectors.

Was there anything done to the vehicle prior to this happening?

Alarm install?
Car audio/amp/speakers installed?
Accident?
Spilled coffee or soda around seat area?

How many wires are on the harness to the seat belt buckle? If its just two, I'd say try disconnecting it and see what happens. If it still does it, then short the two wires in the harness and try again. Its either a N.O. or N.C. circuit, and if neither changes it, then the issue is something forward of that.

It may sound strange, but I've seen a LOT of things cleared up by disconnecting the battery and resetting the ecu. It may just come right back, or it may not, but either way, its free and doesn't take much time at all to do. If it does return, or doesn't go away at all, then I'd try doing the buckle short/open connection test next.

I upgraded audio system 5 years ago. This issue started 2 weeks ago.

I used a paper clip at the OBDII port, got airbag code 32 and 44.

I have a service manual for 2006 4runner and mine is 2010. I assume the system should be similar. I will try to clear the code first according to the procedure as described in the manual.
