airbag removal

I've done the search thing...to no avail.

Anyone removed the airbag from the pass. side dash?
I think I got all the screws out from underneath, but it still does not want to come out.
I got the cover off at the "people" side off, but the part nearer the windshield does not want to move. I want to remove it with out damaging it.

FYI, it is in the '96 I am parting out.

Make sure you disconnect the battery and wait a few min for any additional electrical charge to die off before you unplug the airbag. I've seen the airbag blow off while someone was under dash trying to loosen the nuts that hold it in the dash while the battery still hooked up here at work. The guy was not a happy camper after that.

This is from a 2000 Tacoma, but should be the same.
Ones a component view to give you an idea whats in there and the other is an removal page.

Oh yea, the truck is in pieces...battery has been disconnected for quite a while.
I know how to remove it electrically so it does not go off, just having problems with the physical removal without breaking something.

Oh ok, Just wasn't sure. Didn't want you to blow it off in your face. I did include the 2 PDF files for you to look at for removal..
