Airbox extension

Any of you guys take out your fender liners and have this tube exposed? it's an extension of the airbox, should I leave it open? put a filter on it? cut it off at the firewall? looks like an easy way for water to get in the airbox. gonna do some water crossings in a few weeks trying to get my fording depth as high as possible without doing a snorkel.

Are you talking about the tube in this pic? The one coming out of the fender by the headlights and going back about half of the way?

Its pre-filter, so no need for another filter. Most people take that thing out, just a few bolts.

it appears to my untrained eyes that it's the same height as the airbox, so removing it would be useless in hopes of increasing your fording height. correct me if i'm wrong.

ok, I didn't know if it needed to be rerouted inside the engine bay or something. I'll probably just leave it alone then

I have removed mine. I like to call it the choke tube. The opening is much smaller than any other tube in the intake.

yeah I like that! question, does it actually suck air from inside the cab then? I can't tell where that 2nd hole leads to
