Airlift bags with lift?

Hi all, I'm going to be installing some Airlift bags on my rig and was wondering if anyone else has done this? I have FJ springs in the rear which gave me about 1/2" of lift and plan on installing 1.5" spacers netting 2" of lift.

Now the question is: what kit do I get because of the added height? Anyone have any experience?

Yup, quite a few of us have these.

You cut the really expensive Toyota rubber coil overload/bump-stop to the size you need.
Your only talking .5 inch, in the coil.
I would think the standard ones will work.


I pulled the overload/bump-stop out and stuffed in these...
# AIR-46132, 5.38"x10.5"
I have the ext. SAW rear coils # 102-1575-195

I ran the Firestone airbags with FJ springs and Daystar spacers for a while and they worked great. I could load the hell out of my 4runner and 16’ trailer and didn’t have to worry about it squatting. Plus it was a whole lot more stable going down the road when loaded. I left the bags out when I swapped in some Icon rear coils but I still have them in case I need them again.

So you're saying buy the bags that are for my 4runner and cut off less of the bumpstop so they fit snug against it? I never thought of that lol

i still use the recommend bags for a stock setup, i think the fj uses the same bags as the 4runner. i use the firestone brand, i try keep mines at 10 psi since my trunk is constant weight with the battery and subs. they recommend keeping the bags at 5 psi.

Depending on how much you cut out.
If you look at the info J.A. posted you can see the installed bags.
I grabbed one of his pics as a reference.
You can see how the bag is not touching the cut-off bump-stop.
I didn't like that, to me it feels like as the suspension compresses and hits the bags, it kicks/rebounds off the bags. Making it bouncy.
With the bags filling the coil it reduced that sensation...slightly.
I run them flat with the valve stem cores removed now...for the last 4-5 months...not been towing anything for some time now.
Rides real nice.

Yea, J.A. does a really good job on with write-ups...wish he would do a head gasket...

I was calling it the bump-stop, but the proper term would be 'coil-isolator' I guess.

In the directions it shows the isolator cut off at the top notch (of 3)...like J.A. shows.

In my kit it had a rubber puck that the bag sits on, between the axle and bag.
Also shows it in the directions I have. (pic 1) That's the only difference I see.

I did away with the isolator altogether, topped the coil with a 1/4" UHMW plastic disc that I cut out of a sheet to fit. (between the coils and the upper body mount). Then stuffed a bag in that filled the coil, after measuring the coil length. (pic 2 & 3)

The bottom of the coil isolator also made a nice winch cable stop. (pic 4)

I have a Daystar spacer lift (2.5” front; 1.5” rear) on my TRD Off Road and would like to add the Airlift system too.

Has anyone done this? I can’t seem to find a kit that will work for a 2017.

Any recommendations?

Same thing as the OP.
Your lift is from a 1.5" spacer on top of the coil?...using the stock coil spring.
Standard size bags should work.
Are not the 4th and 5th gen rear coils the same?
