Yes, The output shaft is smaller on the Manual hubs. Is it weaker then ADD. Don't know but ADD axles break all the time. Usually in the differential.Hello Singtoe!!
Nice thread you got here!! I want to do this conversion.
" Trucks with manual hubs (Tacos) which had smaller output shafts are pretty weak "
" ADD are very strong and it is rare to break "
I read this statements before. What do you think about that?
Thanks!
This thread is simply amazing and a extraordinary write up. Thank you!
I really want to do this.
But I got a few questions and it is probably some stupid ones.
I have a manual 5 speed, would it be different in doing this to my rig?
If there is, what would I have to do differently?
Thanks.
I have a question for the removal from a Tacoma. There is a 95 and 96 Tacoma at the local pick n pull and I'm going tomorrow in the hopes of finding some manual hubs. I would disconnect the spindle from the upper ball joint and the lower ball and all accompanying attachments. Will the CV's just slide out at that point? I'm hoping to get it all out tomorrow morning as it is half price so it should be $65 for everything granted the Tacoma's are 4wd and have manual hubs.
try to pick up the ant unit, taco whip ftw!!!Thanks Eric, I got a 36mm socket, but may need to get a 35 tomorrow morning. If the 2 tacos that are there have manual hubs I plan on taking the hubs and spindles as one and pulling the Taco CV's as well. They Taco's haven't been picked yet so I may get lucky. If the both have manual hubs I'll pick you up a set. There also is a 01 taco which I will look for a locker.
hey guys new to the 4 runner seen, but have a decently built tacoma. if anyone is interested i have a pair of factory manual locking hubs id be willing to sale for the right price.
