ajohnson's 85 build

The weather was bad all weekend so all I was test fit the compressor in that spot on the passenger fenderwell. Hopefully I can get that put in this week and start on the aux. fuse block to clean up the wiring.

Lets try this post again. I used KC tube clamp mounts to put my HID converted Hella 500's where the Hi-Lift was mounted, so I moved the Hi-Lift inside on the roll bar with my Hi-Lift tube clamp mounts

Nice! I'm probably going to do triples too, lemme know how that fits and if you have to clearance anything.

I'll let you know. Hopefully the other case will show up this week, I am tired of waiting.

Today I got the compressor installed with the ARB hose kit quick disconnect, pressure switch, and locker solenoid for the front Yukon Zip locker. It fits pretty well behind the fuse box on the passender side fender.

Then I plumbed the line to the front locker. I zip-tied it to the shock hoop and down the brake line.

And ran the wiring to the dash and installed the switches. I will have to wire the rest later.

I finally started my fuse block install but it is on hold until my wire and crimp terminals show up (I couldn't find what I wanted locally). I made a mount out of scrap 1/16" aluminum from work. Here is where it will be mounted.

My horn had quit working so I decided to see if I can fix it.
I found the contact on the back of the wheel was not touching the pin on the column, so I pulled the wheel off.

Here you can see the pin inside the column

I looked around for something to shim the contact, and found this extra star washer from the front axle rebuild. I ground off the index nub and it fit perfectly.

Yoda watching over

Crappy pic but the pin is now touching the contact.

I will test it when I get the battery reconnected. Hopefully this does the trick.

Oh, and the other of my dual cases finally shipped today. So this build should get a little more exciting soon.

I did the same thing with a chunk of margarine container lid. Then fourwd1 told me that he's had luck with just dropping an empty .22 shell over that little springloaded pin, that's probably what I'll do next time.

Yea I found a couple conversations with google search that recommended the .22 shell but I just used what I had laying around. We'll see if it works.

Switches are in, wires are run for fogs, driving lights and reverse lights, and the fuse block is mounted. Just need to hook up the wires, tie them up and mount the lights.

One of my HID bulbs is bad, I'm waiting on a replacement so I can mount the other light.

Blitzpro 6lz with super sweet custom mounts

I thought FoG was a sticker slut, but you've got him beat. I can't even see what color your truck is!

I do dig the custom light mounts on the rear. I did that on my '86 too. :D

I am planning to have them in wednesday so i can get driveshaft measurements and have those in next week. Im taking it out the 20th-21st if all goes well, for a test run. I was invited to join a small group trip.
