Good to hear. I have heard mostly good things about it, aside from the solenoid getting wet and the stock grease making it hard to freespool but maybe they fixed that. I can fix both, I plan to go ahead and seal the solenoid box.

Yes sir I am planning on it. I've got the water pump off right now. Going to seal it up one day this week when it is not raining (it sucks not having a garage :rant and refill the coolant and oil. I got off work that day so I should be good to go.

I met up with some fellow members at URE. I had a great time even though I hate mud.



Picked up a new set of tires today. 37" MTR's with only 10 miles on them.

So glad I bumped into you guys this weekend. All your rigs are super nice and it was really hard following this 85 4Runner. It made me want to go the difficult route each time but he made it look SOOOO easy.

Post up some pics when you get the 37's mounted up, please. I just bought a set myself and need to buy new leaf springs, I'm wondering how the clearance will be for you with the 4" TG springs and the 37/12.5's?

I sure will, and yes they are 12.5. I ordered the wheels from Summit lastnight. Same ones I have now, Pro Comp 52 with 2.5" backspacing but in 17" flavor. I am currently running 1" spacers because the inside of the 15" hits the top of the caliper without them. I will probably remove the spacers and shave the calipers so the backside of the wheel won't hit, and hopefully reduce the scrub radius enough to keep the tire off the firewall. We will see.

Are you going to have them externally balanced? I've been reading about using air soft bb's to internally balance large tires and might give that a try.

I will probably use beads or bb's. I think the guy I bought them from said he used dynabeads(?) and they rode like glass.

I was going to order the wheels from 4wp on Monday but they told me it would be 30-45 days. I ordered them from Summit Racing that night and they were at my door today, 2 days later.

I decided I am going to try mounting them in my backyard. I picked up some valve stems and 10,000 .12g airsoft bb's for balancing. I'll use a little over 10oz. in each tire. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Yup thats what I'm debating. I just wondered if that will destroy the airsoft bb's inside the tire though :shrug:

edit: It seems like plenty people have done this and it should work. I'm not worried about getting the tire on the rim, seating the bead will be the scary part for me lol.

you would put the balance beads in through the valve stem after you've "starter fluid mounted" them lol

and the trick to it is spray the fluid around the inside of the tire then spray a trail of fluid a couple feet away from the tire then light the trail of fluid. It works all the time on the trail. have a towel or something handy to pat out any fire that continues to burn. Also make sure the valve stem is in when you do it other wise you turn your valve stem into a mini torch lol. The idea is that when the tire seals it cuts off oxygen to the flames.

Well these bb's won't fit through the valve stem. But any way I've seen people pour them through the bead and then seat it. Thanks for the tips though.
