Alarm add ons?

is it possible to tap into the glass break sensor wires to add a shock sensor and to tap into the led to make a more visible and brighter indicator, perhaps in a unused rocker switch spot-for example to the left of the steering wheel?

also, with your alarm (rs3200 plus), is the red truck/key led light on all the time when you drive? mine is and i just installed it, so did i mess something up? thanks for the help!

the light problem was due to a bad ground, doh! it even effected my starter while in park (engine disable feature)

from a nissan tech:

I've never really worked on any Toyotas. Its all the same though, for the most part. Find a trigger that sets off the alarm and splice in to it (door pin, hood pin, trunk pin, etc..). Just make sure you diode isolate the input and make sure its a low current input (so as to not fry the shock sensor like the '03 coupes do!)

using this forum as a collection of thoughts...

Here's the break down, the shock sensor you have has the basic wires, red for pos, blk for ground, and the other 2 wires are probably negative trip wires. You'll have to get the wire diagram of the factory alarm and find out where the brain to the alarm is at. Then figure out which wire is the Negative trip wire. Most of the newer alarms have dual zone shock sensors which allow your alarm to chirp if the 1st zone is tripped and then the 2nd one will go off if somebody is beating on a window or something to that effect. You'll have to have the wire diagram for the original Factory alarm so you'll know what wire your looking for coming out of alarm brain. You cannot and I wouldn't suggest trying to guess, there are to many wires and most factory alarms are just like the aftermarket, they are mass produced and have both negative and positive triggers for all different makes and models. If you get the wire diagram you'l have to hook the sensor up then tap the sensor to figure out which wire is for the 1st stage and which is for the 2nd stage you should cross them and if you do it's no big deal the alarm will sound off when tapped lightly instead of chirp a few times. The sensor you have looks like an aftermarket sensor and you can clip the harness off the end and tap into your alarm. I hope this helps you and I didn't confuse you any. If you need any other help let me know.

BUMP

nobody knows any techs, friends in the alarm business, or made any attempts to do this? i find it hard to believe-doesnt seem like anyone wants their car stolen and with this $15 dollar mod, wouldnt there be better interest?

lojack ;)

sure it's like $400-$500 but if you live in an active area where lojack is, it's serious peace of mind. The only thing left is to stop gang kids from stealing your stereo and other stuff you leave in the console. For personal items you like to carry around (checkbooks/passport..etc.) i recommend creating a secret storage spot for all of that - NOT the one in the glovebox of course.

glass breakage sensors work as a deterrent to someone trying to steal your car, but not someone stealing something - from - your car, they look in the window, see it, break it, take it and are gone. I know there are systems out there that alert the driver (via a large key fob) whenever something like this happens, so maybe you can respond to it in time if i'ts outside your front door.. but otherwise.. keep stealable items out of plainview, and use a regular engine disabler or lojack to stop the whole thing from being stolen.

its actually more of a function of a holes in the parking ramp hitting my car with their door or drunks pulling out to fast and hitting my truck (parking is behind my apartment). theft i realize your screwed, and im all stock so im not worried. :)

toyota has two tech. support #'s
18002333718 ext3
18777627666

but it wont let me thru due to my "calling area"
can someone try these numbers and see what happens?

one support guy says they will void claims if you tape into the harness b/c some kid did to the mic wire and fried the alarm brain.
