alarm reset?

1997 Limited with OEM alarm.

The keys havent worked with unlocking the doors in almost 5 years. I've just locked it with the key and called it good.

Disconnected the battery to replace the alternator.
Now that the new alternator is connected, I go to connect the battery.

The alarm goes off!

I havent seen the owners manual since... the last decade or so, so i'm needing some help.

anyone car to give me a suggestion?

Maybe try reprogramming with the sticky instructions?

helpful link e-caban, but that will happen later.

found the solution to my problem.

1. remove fuse for horn
2. connect battery
3. put key into ignition, turn to ON
4. push red button for alarm so it's popped OUT
5. turn key off

took a couple tries, and the alarm "click" was much more tolerable than the horn blaring.

6. install horn fuse
7. drive
