Jeff Amazing!!! I grew up in Riverton, 27 miles from Lander in the middle of the reservation. And in that Wind River Mountain range. Louie Lake is still one of my favorite spots. Growing up we were there almost every weekend it seemed like. I haven't been there in years but it has been calling me. Took a trip up there of my own to see the eclipse but unfortunately did not make it up to Louie Lake or the Winds. I have been all over Wyo and most of the places you visited. And a big part of South Dakota. It sounds like you and your family had a great trip. Thank you for sharing and bringing back some wonderful memories.

Thank you so much for your comment. That area is absolutely beautiful. We stopped at Middle Fork restaurant in Lander on our way to Jackson Hole. We talked with a couple of gentleman for a long time on the main drag afterward. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Louie Lake seemed to be mostly local Wyoming residents and everyone was awesome. We have a corresponding video on youtube. Our channel is Overland Family Expeditions. Subscribe, we have 8 more videos coming out that will be released one week at a time. Oh, also, I forgot to tell you about subscriptions. If you join the Toyota Land Cruiser Association the magazine is included with membership. I think it's $35 annually for membership. They have great events too. Here is a link to the video that corresponds to the article. This should be a visual trip down memory lane. I shot a bunch of drone footage at the lake.

Just came across this RTT being spammed on Craigslist (bad sign, I know), does anyone have any experience with it? The price is great, but that makes me nervous. If it's actually decent I'd be really happy to have a basic RTT for $250. Sorry if this is not the correct thread for this question.

I just bought my 2012 Trail to get into OL. Plan to add a Prinsu rack first off, then some sliders, build a drawer system while saving my pennies for the Alu-Cab Gen 3 RTT. Hope to have it (RTT) for Overland West in the Spring.

I'll probably never lift it or put big tires on it. It came with KO2's so happy about that. They have been great on my sons 3rd gen.

We have used his for some pretty gnarly four wheeling.... Impressive rigs.

SE Texas is full of private property. Fortunately there are public beaches. Sargent, and Matagorda. Galveston too but pretty populated. Day trips are excellent. Must haves are chairs, beer, drinking water, rinse off water, shovel, pop up tent (yet to be used). Snacks and an ice chest. My 3rd gen is stock and can still handle miles trails at Sargent Beach which is pretty secluded. When it gets cooler the wife and I will bring the bulldog, who's never been the the ocean. Planning a 10 day trip through CO in Feb. looking forward to it. I'm enjoying everyone's ideas and personal equipment. One can learn a lot from this thread. [emoji482]

You may already know this but be mindful that many passes may be closed at that time of year. So plan (or adjust) accordingly.

Yea, it's a bummer bout the passes. Going back in summer too likely. Went 2 februarys ago and i70 was a pain. Storm came out of no where. Had a rental Dodge Dart and barely made it. Should be more suited this time around. Glenwood Springs and Copper Mountain here we come!

For the record, we aren't full time travelers, and spent $1,654 on our trip. You don't have to be super wealthy to do this stuff, and we are trying to show people that.
