All windows auto up/down mod

Does anyone know of a way to install Lexus window switches into our 4Runner's so that we can have the windows go up/down with one click just like the driver's side does?

I went to an car-audio shop and they mentioned that they could do it for $850 I said some choice words... and left

My parents had a 96 Gold Limited, and it had a button on the fob that rolled down all the windows.
it also had a remote start feature. i wish my 4th gen limited had both of those features :D

I wanted to do the same since I got the truck, but lagged & eventually got lazy.

My old car...I installed Clifford G4 alarm w/ the Smart Windows, so I had auto up/down & I can roll up/down w/ the remote.

I was also thinking of going to the dealer or going to the Lexus Service Department...because I'm sure they can install a switch.

I wonder if it's just the driver's switch that needs to be replaced so all windows are auto or do they have to replace a switch on all sides.

I've included a link for you to check out. I've been holding onto this link for quite some time now, just got lazy & afraid I need to take off the door panels. Just didn't want to touch it.

Keep us informed w/ what you do.

Oh yeah...the new Toyota Venza has auto windows for all corners, so it's very possible.

I've been wondering if buying additional "auto" switches would work. The switch definitely feels different, but I think there's a control module or something that controls the auto windows. It would be nice to have though, even if it only worked at the window switches on the driver's door.

I've also been looking into it, the switches so have a small computer board in them, but I don't know if they control the auto function or if it is inherent in the motor body module, Toyotas literature is vague on that end.

I've looked into this myself and if I remember correctly it would be around $450 just for the parts to get this going. The $850 probably isn't too crazy since you have to wire the triggers to all 4 doors and I believe run 2 sets of positive/negative wires to every door. There are a couple of threads on it around here somewhere.

At least you have the driver's side! I don't have any :( something happened with mine and resetting it (as well as replacing the entire switch) doesn't do me any good. Works fine with the moonroof & back window, but no auto driver's.

edit: sorry guess my memory is off. you'd need 2 of these Power Window Module this is only $100

just buy 2 dei 530t and install yourself, just get alot of 14g speaker cable, u have to run 2 pairs to each door, thats how i did it and have all auto up and down, takes only a few hours to do.

So I was playing with some old master switches some co-workers had laying around from previous repairs. Disassembled the switch to find something VERY interesting...

Toyota's master switches are printed circuit boards with memory chips and other components. They are pretty much their own module, which isn't that surprising since almost every car manufacturer is going to this... What IS surprising is that all the switches I took apart were Driver's Side Only Auto up & down and yet ALL the switches on the circuit board are already printed, chipped, and pinned for full auto.

What Toyota apparently does is utilize a different rocker (the plastic part you actually push/pull on) and add two extra plastic pins when they want a switch to be fully auto.
Edit- I'm sorry jumped the gun there, the design I am referring is used in the similar year Sienna, Highlander and uses push pins and buttons like a keyboard or calculator, the 4Runners use a slide switch, different mechanics all together. But the switch itself is still set-up like a module, so my theory is still sound. I wanted to correct that real quick

Unfortunately you cannot buy the rockers and pins separately. But this tells me that the switches themselves are already "wired" so to say for the function, they just lack the physical mechanism. Much like how GI-Spec M14's still retain the full auto function, but the engagement cam is not installed.

You should in theory be able to purchase a GX470 Master switch and swap it out for All Auto function fron the Driver's Side. The connectors should be the same. I'm going to hunt for a cheap GX470 switch, I don't feel like paying $200+ for one right now...

Hope this helps! :frog:

Small request, if any of you have a GX470, could you please pop out your master switch and take a picture of the connector? I can't seem to find any information on it and I am not at work to access TIS.

sweet, thanks!

btw I FINALLY test drove a gx... 4runner is the exact comfort ride quality, since mine is a sport it felt more confident on the road than the GX. I love the v6 it feels a lot more peppy than gx's v8. was at Naperville lexus, they didnt let me pop out the window relay. =)

There's another way that other RX8 owners did it. I'll look for the post. Basically you have a relay switch which when pressed sends a signal for 5 seconds (or however long you set it for). YOu can also make it work off of the keyfob :-D

Window Roll up offf of KeyFob

Auto All Windows with Module

Hope this helps...You can make EACH window do it, or just control it from the main door and tell everyone else to EFF off. :-)

Can add up quickly because you need 2 units per switch (1 up and 1 down) so essentially, if you wanted everything to work on auto (one touch) switches it would take 12 modules. :jaw drop:

In theory based on what you are saying, is it that the 4th gen 4runner switch board is wired for full auto but the other three switches are just lacking the proper rocker? If thats the case couldn't another used master switch be taken apart and the driver side auto switch then be placed on the passenger side switch for the original master switch?

just like my old post above, get 2 dei 530t and lots of 14 gauge speaker wire, u need 2 pairs going to each door.

With those modules I'm just a little confused on how they work. Is it based on how long you hold the switch determines if you are using auto up down? Or no matter what it will always be auto?

once you run all the wires, they all turn to 1 touch auto, so its all auto up or down.

if you hold the switch, you can still make it act like a regular switch.

That's funny. I've been trying to find a way to STOP my driver's window from going all the way up or down.
Trying to open it to a specific spot is like a Saturday morning cartoon.
All I need is the slide whistle sound effect.
