Almost finished...the next addition will be a grill craft grill and powder coating the wheels. I know she is plain, but I think she is a beaut.

Crusader, I'm digging the blackened roof rack, looking good.

Can you tell me what wheel/tire set up you're running? Also, when you powder coat will they end up silver or are you blacking them out?

Thanks and thanks for posting.

Nice truck man!
So, a couple quick questions-
1. Suspension setup
2. width of spidertrax spacers
3. tire size

@diggety - the roof rack is black on trail editions

That is a standard OEM Trail Edition rack.

Looks great to me!
I would hate to mess up that front end with an after market bumper. But I may have to on mine for the improved approach angle. I've already scraped the bottom of both the front and rear bumper.

That's what a 5th Gen should look like. Most I see look weak compared to a stock 3rd or 4th gen.

Nice truck.

I have been considering spacers.

How is tire rubbing under articulation with the spacers?

Did you put the spacers on just for the wider stance look?

Id like to see some pictures of how much mud and stuff gets kicked up on the body after driving in wet soupy mud puddles or gravel road.

I went off roading with an sr5 and i think he was running fj steel wheels with spacers. His body panels were mud covered and mine were mostly clean. I was not sure if it was his lack of mud flaps or the spacers that did it.

I ll try to post the comparison pic of his truckvvs mine later.

:artist:I ran spacers on a previous road car and they were great, but they were hub centric and it seemed fine. Im not sure id like them on our wheels.

Without my skirts and the Duratracs I throw crap all over my truck without spacers. This is with a 285/70 and a 17x8 with stock backspacing (AFAIK, cannot find the specs on my wheels). I would expect an extra 1.25" would throw that much more crap.

I Agree, she's a beaut! :thumb3: Sometimes keeping it simple gets the best result. What lift did you go with?

The BudBuilts look good. I've been trying to decide wether to go with the full tread plating or not I think you just made up my mind for me, thanks. looking forward to pics of the wheels in black.

Here is a picture of the truck that threw the mud up on its panels. I confirmed that he has spacers and standard 265 tires

Here is a picture of my silver truck that went through as much or more soupy mud, but the sides were relatively debris free.

So I am not sure. I initially was thinking his lack of mud guards accounted for all the spray, but maybe it is the spacers. I hate the skate-board look, but a slightly wider stance would be nice.

I'll be interested to learn what size tires the OP has. Also lift specs etc. (I am guessing it is and OME lift based on the look)

Gentlemen,

I currently am running an Icon Stage I lift with the front as high as it will go. I haven't noticed any settling, and the suspension has been on for almost four months. The tires are currently BFGoodrich All Terrain KOs. Amazing tires to say the least. Honestly, I haven't noticed much of a difference in the amount of debris and mud that collects on the side of the truck after the mud and rain. I think it is mainly due to the tread pattern of the BFGs. I will say that the 4R definitely handles better going around corners, and the chicks dig it too.:girl: In addition I have the weathertechs all the way around, and 3M Crystaline tint which comes out to about 15%. Hope all of this helps and is informative. I just drove 800 miles round trip to Orlando and averaged about 16.8 MPGs at 80MPH. Needless to say, I wasn't too thrilled about that. Oh well, at least she is fun to take off road.

Thanks for all the comments.

Spacers are 1.25in on every corner. The only time I have noticed any rubbing issues is when I am in reverse, and I turn the steering wheel all the way to the stop.

I think it depends on your setup. My TE with stock wheels, 285 Duratracs, and about 2.5" of lift rubs like crazy since I put on the wheel spacers. Reverse at full lock is a given, but I also get rubbing on the driver's side body mount when I've got the wheels turned halfway to the left. Caster is adjusted as far forward as possible with LR UCAs. I'll be cutting the body mount as soon as I can borrow an angle grinder and someone with welding skills.

I am running 285s and stock wheels. The only place I have noticed rubbing is on the inside of the right fender well. Im thinking about cutting the plastic off, because it is extremely annoying when I back up.

Thanks again man, badass truck fo sho!

That MPG hit is mainly the difference in tires:
BFG AT KO 285/70/17 D: 56 lbs
BFG AT KO 285/70/17 E: 59 lbs

Dunlop GrandTrek AT20 (stock on some 4r, including mine): 39lbs
