Alpine W505 Install Help

Looking for some help from anyone who has installed an Alpine W505 screen in a 4th gen. I am having some alignment issues with the stock bracket. I cannot fit the dash piece back in with the screen. It seems like it needs to go back farther, but the bracket will not allow it. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

I have the iva-w505 installed in my 2004 4runner. It is a very tight install, especially with all the wires in the back. Make sure your wires are neat in the back behind the unit(this was the main problem...too many wires all jumbled up , damn alpine) and do not tighten the bolts(keep slightly loose) on the stock bracket until the dash piece is aligned. Once the dash piece is in, then tighten the bolts. It takes a lot of time and patience. Just keep trying and it should eventually fit.

So you are saying it fit perfectly with the stock bracket, but its just really tight? To me it seemed like the stock bracket attached to the w505 made it stick out too far, making it so the trim pieces wouldnt fit. So I was going to drill new holes in the stock bracket to set the alpine farther back in the dash so it would fit right. But let me know if it fits asap, so i dont have to drill these holes. Thanks so much for the help.

The headunit does stick out somewhat. But on mine, i'm using the double din brackets on each side of the headunit, so everything fits. Drilling holes on the stock bracket might work, just make sure there is enough room behind the alpine unit since it will be further back into the dash.

back from the dead......brains, more brains

I have w203 deck and the navi stopped working. Anyone want to loan me their NPV-1E (or something close don't have it with me) cartirdge to test or test mine if I send it to you?
Navigation is no longer an option on the "source" screen. No power light on the nav cartridge so I'm thinking it crapped the bed.
Not the original purchaser, so Alpine wants $150 just to look at it after I pay shipping both ways.
thanks Josh
