Alternator charging post snapped(hopefully that is the right name.)

Hey guys,

My batter has died twice within the past two weeks and when I took it to autozone, they said the battery was fine and I should check my alternators charging post. I had no idea what that really was but I looked at any connection going into my alternator to see what could be the problem. I found that there was some corrosion on one of the connections and attempted to take the nut off but the entire bolt (or whatever it is really called) broke in half.

I am wondering if there is an easy fix for this. If I have to take it apart I will go ahead and do. I am trying to avoid having to fork up the money to buy a new alternator altogether so if there are ANY fixes, please let me know.

I can't think of any way to repair that copper bolt aside of replacing it. Of course that means removing the alt and putting it on the bench then going from there.

You may find a replacement bolt at a business that rewinds electrical motors that could be made work

I would only do it though as a challenge to myself and be ready to replace your alt if it don't work out

I ghetto rig option would be taking the end off the wire, worm clamping it to the broken post. Its not pretty or long term but it could do until you can replace it properly.
