New project:
Aluminum pedals.

Reasons:
Looks, feel and mostly to upgrade terribly flat dead pedal.

Source:
Prado FJ150, because US 4Runner does not have aftermarket affordable option.

Looks and Fit:
Seem to be thick aluminum with rubber inserts. Fits Prado 150 which has identical pedal to 5th gen 4 Runner.

It is squared off shape that makes it wide looking. Amazon says delivered, so I should be able to test fit it this evening. And if it is wider it could be modified easily.
 
Brake pedal is perfect fit, gas is slightly larger which I welcome and dead pedal is same width as stock but slightly taller. I measured and traced few things so far. Learned that stock gas pedal is made of Soft Plastic so I'd make aluminum backing plate to keep it from possible cracking. Dead pedal is perfect. Pics after install. Question: is there an easy way to gain access to the back of stock dead pedal without removing all carpet flooring? It looks as it is glued to carped and I want to secure new one with bolts instead of self-tapping screws. Any suggestions?

Would you please post a pic when you have a chance? I don't care much about the dead pedal since it is mostly covered by my weathertechs but I'd be interested in the gas and brake pedals.

It looks like the same company makes a TRD version too! EDIT: Looks like the pattern for the bolts is different from pardo pattern. Does this matter (or is it like a clamp)? I've never replaced pedals before. I'll need to crawl in the car and take a look.

Those TRD pedals wrong shaped for 4Runner (squared). No clamps for Prado stuff. Two steps: Drill and Bolt in.
 
Work in the progress. I added plastic back panel for dead pedal to make bigger pedal fit better. Two additional holes drilled for pedal to make it fit factory location. Results?

Before any one asks: new tall Prado footrest Does Not interfere with parking brake pedal (I checked several times).
 
Are these the drill and tap your OEM pedal style, or some sort of clamp style like the parts store versions?

One concern comes to mind, in the US the gas pedal was shaved for my 4th Gen 4Runner by a recall after the whole "runaway Toyota" issue with the gas pedal getting stuck (I'm still not convinced it wasn't user-error).

Are these Aluminum ones for the gas pedal longer and thus potentially re-creating the stuck gas pedal with bigger floor mats etc.?

Otherwise I like the idea and think it will enhance the interior look.
 
I think all those "unintended acceleration" cases are bunch of lawyer-ed up crap for financial gain of dear attorneys and citizens! ... Where were we? Ah, yes the pedal: its clearance from floor only diminished by 0.5 inch with new Prado unit. There is plenty space between any mat you can think of and new pedal. If you good with basic tools and little creativity I suggest to go this route (it requires some back plates to make it seamless) and save money. If money isn't issue then you can get perfect fit items from Custom Aluminum Vehicle Pedals - ULTIMATE PEDALS for about two hundred dollars but you still have to install them yourself.
