Ok I live in northern Michigan, the land of salty roads. Last three vehicles we have had, all had aluminum rims. Try as I might I just couldn't keep them from corroding. Fact of life I guess. That being said, I really would like to keep the rims on our new T4R looking nice for more than two years. I have used just about all the paste waxes I could on my wheels but they still lost the luster. Anyone have any advice for me please. Oh, and moving to the southwest is not an option. :lmao:

Have you tried Duragloss? I used it on my wife’s Sequoia’s chrome rims and the rims still looks great. The brake dust isn’t sticking as much to the wheels as before. I detailed her car sometime in April and the body of the Sequoia is dirtier than her rims. Granted I don’t live in an area where it rains a lot (So Cal).
I’ll either use one of these polishes to clean up my wheels.
16 oz. - Marine & RV Polish
- Even though this is a marine polish, if you’re vehicle and rims haven’t been cleaned in a while, this is a great product to use.
Total Performance Polish)
- This is another great polish/wax you can use for your tires.
Polish Bonding Agent)
- If you like, you can mix 4 parts any of the two polishes/waxes mentioned above to 1 part of the bonding agent to give it more durability and shine.
Clear Coat Polish)
- You can also use this as a second coat after using either of the two polishes mentioned and mixing it with the PBA (polishing bonding agent) to give it an extra shine durability.
You can either just use the polish/waxes by themselves and/or mix the polishing bonding agent to give it the extra gloss and durability to make it last longer and call it a day.
You can also add the clear coat polish mixed in with the PBA after using the polish/wax.
I know it’s a lot of steps but in the end, at least for me anyways, the end result was amazing. Granted it took me over two hours just to detail my wife’s wheels since her wheels haven’t been cleaned for a loooong time.

You may want to try some of the new SIO2 enhanced spray on / rinse off sealers. Or ceramic coat them. I use McKee's 37 products mostly but there are tons of them out there. Even Meguiars has a spray on ceramic type wax.

I live in the rust belt . I still own my 2000 silverado. what I do is spray silicone on my alloy GM wheels/tire.. did this for almost now 20 yrs and they still look good.. I bought my truck because I have to go to work even when the state shutdown the roads when the snow storms hit I a state worker..
175K miles on it..
my 2016 runner I do the same thing. tires and wheels look like new..
I use home depot paint safe silicone spray.. I also use it on the window rubbers because we have to deal with the windows icing up etc.. doors will not open door handles frozen etc etc...
I also use silicone brake grease on the brake caliper pins.. silverado still has the same calipers .. rust belt is a PITA...
