Always Hot rear 12v plug

Hello,

New to 5th gens, but I'm looking at making the rear 12v plug always hot. I'd like to get a fridge for the 4runner and don't have a solar and dual battery set up. Is there a way to make the factory plug always on?

Even though there is a way to make the factory outlet hot you don't want to. The wiring is woefully undersized.
Do yourself a favor and run a 10AWG 12v wire direct from the battery to a Blue Sea (my favorite) outlet placed wherever you'd like.

You can use the BlueSea outlet as @Sky mentioned. It's cheaper to buy the parts than buy the setup from OffGrid Engineering, which is what I did largely because I didn't want the extra wire coiled that would be left from their setup. That being said OffGrid does great work so don't hesitate to buy from them if it suits your needs

To be safe, be sure to include a fuse inline with the 10 AWG wire. You can get them at any auto parts store.

Hey Tech-team,

Concerning the "Power-point" (Cigarette lighter) sockets. There's one thing to be aware of ...B-4... rewiring anything. ALL three 12V sockets (Center Console, Glove-box, and Cargo area) are wired "TOGETHER"!

So if you energize any one of them, but have e.g., Radar detector, Traffic-cam, stereo power amp trigger...etc, as a feed-source in any one of them, that'll kill the battery over night! Be sure to isolate the one you wanna keep HOT from the others to avoid a dead battery scenario! 'Best to you',

I ordered a CHGeek USB and Cig Lighter Socket with on/off switch, 20' of 10 gage with a 15amp inline fuse. This will be my first time dealing with anything electric, but it looks straight forward. Wish me luck!

100% Correct! If you want to save time ARB makes a nice kit. 10 awg wires wrapped up nicely with a fuse and plug. I prefer an SAE connector and converted mine along with an on/off switch.
