went to a local dealer yesterday, and i was told they are willing to get a silver TE with KDSS and NAV if i want one. got a call this morning from sales and he told me that they have located one within 100 miles, the MSRP is 41739 with KDSS and NAV. they said if i can pay 38900 then we have a deal, of course without tax and dealer fees (about 70-80 bucks). tax in soacal is 8.75. i just wanted to ask you TE owners, is this a good deal or not? should i pull the trigger? any advices will be greatly appreciated. thanks

I think I paid 37,600 for the exact same car in July 2010.

im looking at the same price without navigation...
"Deals" can be very region specific. Out West, it seems like we pay a little more on average. Look up you vehicle on the web (multiple sites available to do this) and see what others have been paying for your vehicle with the same options in your area. I don't think that price is tooooo far off. If not many TE's are around, your gonna lose a little bargaining power.
well, actually they have changed thier mind and asking 39951 plus tax. a grand more than what they were telling me this morning and giving me "what you want is rare and there aren't many around" BS. i'm calling it off right now. i think i made a mistake by walking into this dealer and ask for such truck. should've done online quote from several dealers instead. doing it right now. thanks for all your inputs.
Well,it is a rare truck. I don't think they're lying about that part. You don't see too many TE's around L.A. I got 38.9 quotes a few months ago when i was shopping for pretty much the same truck, but the problem with the quotes is that the dealers are basing it off an assumption that they can trade for that truck. Sometimes they just give you the number to see if you will walk in and do the deal. I'd still shoot for the 38.9 price, that sounds like a fair price. Please let us know how it all turns out.
according to edmunds, on TE, MSRP for nav+backup cam is 2420 and it upgrades audio to 15 spkrs JBL as well, but invoice price is 2150. it's the price for socal region
TE is what i wanted in the first place, but my fiancee wants LE. i guess we'll end up with LE then
my closest dealer is puente hill toyota but i don't think they want to earn my biz. i just did online quote thingy and 15min. later, got quote from glendora toyota on a white limited with NAV for $40125, MSRP is 43.5, that's really fast. sounds like a reasonable price will contact them in the morning. are you in the market for a TE too? mossy toyota in san diego have a nice grey TE with KDSS and NAV, MSRP is 42k. haven't got chance to contact them tho, a bit far from me.
in socal, all LE come with 3rd row seats. i just counldn't find a single LE without that damn tinny 3rd row and it's a 1.3k extra. actually 40125 is 150 below invoice, per edmunds. i'll check that one out today and see whatelse i can get for 40k :tongue:

It depends how much time your willing to spend getting the vehicle that you want.
Bought a 2011 TE W/KDSS and Remote start in Aug in Arizona. Sticker was 39.8 or so with 4.5% financing. My wife and I knew we wanted a TE and had been looking for one for the past year, never any one closer than 400 miles away. Finally found a "local" one, we went to the dealer and spent about 4 hours negotiating. Got the price down to 37.8 and cut the interest to under 2. Cash in hand for half helped for sure, but just saying NO for 3 hours, walking out the door, and having the dealership manager come and negotiate with us sure helped. There is only so much the sales person, or the low level managers can/are willing to do to get the price down. Also threw in the 6yr/100K for us.
I guess I would say, know what vehicle you want for sure. Be patient if you/they cant get it for you. Be willing to spend your day negotiating with them. Have a financial plan in place before you go. And just say NO alot!!!

I live in So Cal too and I done the dealer online quote thing with True car etc. I'll be honest - it was a waste of my time.. Not one of the listings that gave me a price had a TE in stock - When I talked to them all directly they all said the same thing.. Rare, blaa blaa, Even if we can locate one for you we can't sell it as low as the online price we gave you..
In other words - the online dealer search for the most part is about them getting your info - calling you and annoying you but not actually helping you. True car is probably useful for readily available cars but I found it useless for the TE. Be prepared to get annoyed if you go that route..

true, and now i'm gong to get a LE with NAV since my fiancee wants that. i don't think i can get over her :cry2: we got a lot of LE around and i think i might just get a good price on LE.
we got same MSRP here too, but we have a lot more dealers than anywhere else.

I have been an on/off shopper going back to the beginning of the summer. I was discouraged bec. of the limited supplies right after the earthquake, but now that the '12's are soon to be coming in, I'm looking again.
FYI, the only TE I've seen at a L.A. dealer was at Bob Smith's in La Crescenta a month or so ago. It was a black one, can't remember if it had Nav or not. But when I saw it, I braked hard and pulled over just to get out and take a close look at it. Loved it, but I want silver for sure.
I bought a Prius from a dealer last year and she was a straight shooter when it came to prices and availability, PM me if you want contact info. Good luck.
Oh, and don't get an LE, TE's are way better IMO.

I noticed on the east coast there are some decent deals to be had... I am printing out these autotrader ads I found... 1 is a new fully loaded TE with Navigation and kdss for 38.3k, the other i found was in CO for a new TE without navigation but had kdss upgrade for 36.5k Ill bring these with me to the local dealer here in houston and see if I can use it for some bargaining power.

I knew TE is better but it's out of my hand now. She's all over it right now
