Am I still Cool?

I've got a 2wd 97, and I wheel the crap out of it. Its definitely great to learn with, and I go 95% of the places my buddies have gone in their 4x4's. You learn quick with 2wd to find the right line and throttle control, but also remember to always go with backup and a good tow strap.

The most important thing that hasnt been mentioned yet is.... Don't go out alone, or at least without another good buddy with 4wd to recover you when you do get stuck. Doesn't matter whether you're 4wd or 2, having a good trail buddy is where it's at for good times off-road.

Hey everyone. new to forums, anyway I have a 2000 2wd I'd like to go off roading nothing too intense, it's stock height, how good are these for light off roading?

Eh, it'll go places. Good tires will help, and so will a cheap lunchbox locker in the rear, but 4wd can get you out of the trouble you get into with 2wd. If you don't have 4wd, then you've got nothing to get you out once you're stuck, so "light" wheeling is about the most I'd commit to, especially if there's no other trucks with you. If you intend to explore alone you should consider a winch, or carry a comealong if you can't afford the winch. Also shovel, emergency kit, etc, but you should carry all that even if you have 4wd.

If you're looking to get into more than dirt roads, consider getting a 4wd model or doing a 4wd conversion on yours.

and Is it lame that I wanna make it look all off-roady but its a 2wd?

Yup. If you're upgrading for the function and it happens to make it look better at the same time, bonus. If you're just modding for the look, then you're a poser by definition. I'm ok with that if you are, but it's still lame. ;)

2WD is probably fine for light off-roading in the desert around Lost Wages, but don't let this happen to you... The Hunt for the Death Valley Germans

I read that a couple months ago. Amazing story, I wanna buy that guy a beer.
