Complete overhaul of Judicial system.
Research other`s nations practices not to stick with outdated British inheritance .
Actually one idea was not bad
Australia was place to put criminals away from society yet eliminate cost to the people. Move them to Alaska, they will build themselves infrastructure or kill each other, that would be up to them. At that point we wouldn`t be responsible for them. If they live there for 10 years without breaking the law let them back to CONUS. Eliminate employers background check unless required for security clearance so they can find a job.
Expand mental health facilities, many of those people are sick and need care, not prison cell.

I have many friends doctors, I know those people from inside out, still disturbing how so many smart people can be that stupid about one issue.

Agree with mental health help. But why Alaska and not Colorado? Or upstate NY. Maybe Arizona/Nevada desert. If you are implying hard labor then I am in agreement with that as a first offense. But at some point you have to draw a line.
As to not being responsible for them that just doesn't hold water in my book. We tried and convicted them. Sent them to a place and forced them to build their own info structure. Then we need to monitor them for 10 years to see if they break the law. If we are monitoring then we have a basic responsibility for them.

Big remote location that`s why. hawaii is where rich people spent their vacation, not going to happen but would be perfect size for 2 million of people currently incarcerated. Current correctional ideology is that hard labor is benefit not punishment. I disagree with that, self sufficiency is crucial to whole idea. Australia turned out OK, or mostly OK anyway. :lol:

I am not an American, but have concerns for the United States as well.
Some of the issues have been raised here, and you guys do need to look at the root issues and make some decisions as a country to define (or re-define) yourselves. Not sure either of your presidential candidates are really well suited for the job, but hopefully you choose the best one of the two. Kind of anxious to see how it comes out on election day.

It's becoming all to common anymore. Campuses put up free speech zones so you have to be in a designated area to express your constitutional right. They tried it with the Bundy stand off as well. And they did it with reporters that were trying to cover the mass immigration over the southern border after CBP had been ordered back.
It doesn't matter what side of the isle we are on. Either these rights apply to all Americans or none of them. And yes we extend them to legal and illegal visitors in this country.

She gets to report on her own arrest warrant. Priceless. I doubt it has any merit though. Amy Goodman is a very decorated independent reporter who has been doing this a very long time. Democracy Now (hosted by Amy) is the definition of independent journalism.
Democracy Now also were the ones to obtain video footage of the security guards dog's biting the protesters, something that is definitely a crime. One dude looked bit up pretty bad.
