America this week, what the hell?

Something that you are totally ignoring is that there are actual jobs for these people and the only way they can compete is to lower their wage expectations.........why is this? Do American business owners in the USA not have a significant level of accountability in hiring the illegal aliens? I don't see or hear Trump or yourself whining about that. Hell, how many citizens KNOWINGLY hire "Mexican/South American" to cut lawns, etc.? And are they not accountable and just as guilty as the illegal? If illegal aliens were not able to get jobs they would ultimately end up being incarcerated, be criminals, die or go back one way or another.

There might actually be a racial component to this given that there is little to no rhetoric or anger rendered on the business owner or private individual that actually hires these people. To just blame the illegals for working for less is a cop out argument (as they likely won't command a comparable wage as any legal citizen for the same work) and you are giving the people that hire them (a significant component of the "problem") a total pass. A wall won't stop them if they can still get a job that an American "employer" wants to give them.

Before I say anything, I must say that I do not affiliate with Republican nor Democrat. I would just like to bring up the fact that democrats are always claiming to be more educated. 1.common sense and morals > education. 2. The democratic party relies on the the vote of undereducated minorities by promising free stuff. 3. If you are basing your knowledge off of polls produced by your affiliated party and the media, please know that anyone that has studied statistics will tell you that polls are usually skewed by 5% - 20% because of a lack of data. (It usually says so in small print on the bottom of graphs they show on TV.)

You may be asking yourself "what the hell does this guy know?". Well your argument is education. I am a veteran that happened to make it 4 years through an extremely liberal private college without killing myself or others while studying , you guessed it, political science and statistics.

Vote Gary Johnson.

A small portion of land, with a HUGE amount of technology.

In your imagined world, who's going to build the tractors? Pesticides? Solar panels?

You're talking about a massive reversion to hunter/gatherer status, and with 300 million people that won't work.
I guess it depends on what you consider "off the grid".

you(and others) are asserting that going off grid means putting down all the tools you currently use.
is that what you meant when you asked the original question?
just dropping everything and walking out of the city?

Total spin, the money was going to be returned to them anyway and it was strategically used as a bargaining chip. The administration should have made this clear from the get go.

Any fast food joint would hire a legal, English speaking teenage over an illegal immigrant any day of the week, so that's just BS. Teenagers aren't working these days, and that's why the chains resort to hiring immigrants.

As for construction, if you're an unskilled laborer, maybe you should consider learning one to make yourself worth the wage you're asking for. But again, major construction companies would rather hire Americans over illegals, but they can't get them.

I work in shipyards all the time that struggle to find quality labor and end up with non English speakers as a last resort.

Mexico isn't an example of a country I want our standards to be held to.

So it's the residency of the illegals that you're worried about? I thought it was the taking of jobs? Canadians take TONS of engineering and manufacturing jobs. Go to any auto plant in MI and you'll find them. But you're worried about fast food work.....

Well as far as fast food goes that's not what's happening in Washington. You have people that are willing to work 40 hrs a week for minimum wage. That makes scheduling a lot easier for a business that's open 16 hr a day. 2 shifts and done. Doesn't mean they can't get high schoolers at all. It's just when you have to work around schedules of students it's easier to just hire someone that will give you 40 hrs.

As to me being unskilled well that is a big junk for you to make considering you don't know me at all. I ran a drywall crew for a summer before I couldn't take it anymore. I am not fluent in Mexican Spanish but understand and speak enough to get by. I would listen to the crew of questionable "citizens" all with SSN btw talk about how they got a DUI last night and needed to go down and get new documents so they oils skip all the legal ramifications that follow them. One of the reasons I left that companies was they would "hire new workers" same guy different SSN, DL, and other docs, when they became aware of the situation.

In my current construction job we are constantly going in a cleaning up messes left by "low price Central American born" contractors. Some times it's just finishing the job. But most of the time we are going in and ripping out the work done because it's just completely wrong and dangerous. Seriously unsafe, fire hazards, fall hazards, one 2nd story deck collapsed that was "built strong" to hold a hot tub. Thank god nobody was in it or one it at the time. It was 4x4's in pier blocks with 4x6 beams every 8'. Not sure what the building code in Florida is like but that doesn't hold water up here in Washington even without a hot tub.

As to Mexico being an example of a country. I wasn't saying I wanted to be like them. I was pointing out that they are at least smarter than we are. They allow Mexican citizens to be involved in Mexican politics.
American like most countries has founding documents. Our constitution and bill of rights lay out the basic way our government is supposed to be ran and the basic rights of every citizen. We extend these rights to people legally in the country as well. The 1st amendment you have previously accused my of never reading says more than freedom of speech. I laughed we you failed to point it out telling me I have never read it.

So I have attached a photo of the original language form archives.gov. You will note it say the people. I guess it's up to each individual to determine who "the people" are. I assume they are writing about American citizens. But that's just me.

I don't see anything in there that says citizens from other countries can come in to America and protest our government. Perhaps you being an expert on the first amendment can point that out to us.

wait, what? its total spin by the state department to make it look like a ransom was paid?

1.common sense and morals > education.

No doubt, but that's hard to measure.

2. The democratic party relies on the the vote of undereducated minorities by promising free stuff.

True, but the Republican party relies on the votes of undereducated religious folks by promising to push their agenda, and undereducated bigots and racists by promising to build walls, bar certain religions from entering the country, and other such nonsense. I'd call it a wash, but as part of the religious pandering the Republicans over the years have created all sorts of stupid laws that interfere with my drinking, so they're worse.

Vote Gary Johnson.

If he ends up looking like he's in the running, consider it done. My vote first and foremost goes to make sure Trump doesn't get in. If there's an alternative that accomplishes that and keeps Hillary out of the Whitehouse, I'm totally on board.

I don't see anywhere in those articles of Constitution that says they only applies to citizens. It says "People".

Do we not extend the guarantees of due process to non-citizens (other than POWs which are a different matter)?

How about protections against unlawful search and seizure?

At least we have your acknowledgement! The sun is out! :wink2:

you can take your condescending attitude elsewhere.

there was no acknowledgment of anything. if you will noticed, I asked you a question. what you are saying makes no sense. here I thought it was the "conservatives" that were the conspiracy theorists.

I keep seeing intelligent and educated used in place of each other. they are not the same thing. you can have one, without the other.

U.S. Says $400 Million Payment Was Used to Guarantee American Prisoners' Release - NBC News

"First of all, this was Iran's money," Kirby said. "It was money that they were going to get back anyway, and so we negotiated with The Hague this interest payment that was advantageous to American tax payers.
IF it was there money to begin with, the US has no grounds to withhold it in lieu of prisoner release.

why the **** are we making any kinds of deals with these dirt bags that are taking American prisoners in the first place? WTF?!

I think that's the point....their money which the US was kind enough to hold for them for a while. I have no problem with that by the way, it's the spin that is dividing the USA and here too but much less than south of the border.

I have to agree but I am sure they (the Iranians) feel the same way about many other countries. ..................keep your enemies closer thing maybe?

There's no question it was their money. The treasury department seized it decades ago during the Iranian revolution.

So, if you're holding a huge chunk of their money, and they've agreed to give us back one of our spies, why not use it to make sure they do what they say they're going to do? We were going to give it back to them either way as part of the nuclear deal.

And the reason we're making deals with them is so we don't have to send troops over there to die fighting them. I hear people all the time say it would be worth it, but is it worth YOUR life, or your kid's lives, or just someone else?

I don't think you can separate the constitution and the bill of rights. The preamble of the constitution should be clear enough as to who the people are. And yes we extend those protections to those who are in the country legally. (Good thing).

I do not see where there is any written document that says we will extend our constitutional rights to people who are in the country illegally. In the founding documents or otherwise. I will admit I have read only a very small portion of this countries laws. They are obviously very numerous and it would and does take a lifelong dedication to try and get through them all.

I have a compromise on the amnesty issue that get called racist when I bring it up. (Not my idea, I heard it elsewhere, but I fully endorse it)
If we are to grant amnesty to all the illegal aliens in the country. How about we give them all the rights of USA citizens and fast track the citizenship process so they can get SSN numbers. But because they chose to enter this country illegally and take amnesty instead of going through the proper immigration process. They will not be able to have voting rights. Their children who are born in the country prior and after amnesty will be and full citizens as already afforded by law. But if they choose the short cut and bypass everybody doing t legally there should be some sort of sacrifice.

I think it's a fair one. What say you?
