America this week, what the hell?

It's super easy to diminsh systematic racism and discrimination if you have never and will never be a victim of it.

What makes you so sure the folks in this thread have never been victims of racism?

He asked a simple question ... what are the positive effects from BLM?

Answer? .... waiting .. waiting... waiting.

Yes there is systematic racism in the US justice system just like there is systemic classism. But that has nothing to do with the basic question of what positive effect has come out of the BLM movement?

The answer is BLM is a bunch of garbage and the driving factors are listed below. Now that doesn't mean we have no need for police reform. Quite the contrary in my opinion. But IBLM .... this type of hashtag anti police activism is doing far more harm than good.

The reason I call BLM an ANTI-Police MOB is because:
* BLM has no leadership
* No personnel rosters or membership list
* No unified agenda
* No clear goals
* No clear demands
* No defined mission

It is quite literally an anti-police HASHTAG activism wild MOB that varies city by city.

I provided an answer. Because you don't like it doesn't make it so.

Do you think it's specifically the social activists and organizers out there causing destruction? I would hope not. Would you blame the Pittsburgh Penguins team for a few of their fans flipping cars or burning shit?

The positive outcome is bringing the topic of police brutality to the front page.
it is them, and their followers. also anyone else that things they can get away with whatever they want, while under the umbrella of protection provided by being associated with that mob. they are actively calling for that destruction.
does the Pittsburg penguins team call for their fans to destroy a city if they lose?

so, then basically nothing. got it.

Officer Patrick Zamarripa survived three tours in Iraq before being killed in Dallas
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-tours-in-iraq-before-being-killed-in-dallas/

Such tragedy. First generation immigrant, American citizen and military veteran.

His life was the definition of the American dream until he randomly was killed, along with 4 other LEO, for no reason by anit-cop BLM scumbag.

Dallas police officer Patrick Zamarripa, 32, had survived three tours in Iraq, one of the world’s most dangerous places, his father, Rick Zamarripa, said Friday. And then this.

“He comes to the United States to protect people here,” his dad said. “And they take his life.”

I haven't read about the white kid, so no comment there.
and yes, for the others. so far, based on the info I have seen, I would conclude they were justified.

you said excessive force. I said I doubt you would be thinking that, had it been you involved with him. yes I said beast, have you seen the guy? he was huge. I have no idea how big you are, but he was about 2x my size. 2 people my size would have a VERY difficult time subduing him. then you bring in the fact he is resisting heavily, and has a gun, and is attempting to grab it, and also the tazer, absolutely without question I use deadly force, or ANY other means to survive that encounter. we aren't talking about ALL big black men, we are talking about a very specific one. don't try going down a path of discussion that is not relevant here.

in no way would I consider that an execution, NOR excessive force. and my stance is, that if YOU were one of those cops, you wouldn't think so either. I thought I made that point pretty clear the first time.
The initial reports cover that the officers both had body cams which became inoperable in the moments before the fatal shooting of the "beast".....do we actually know he grabbed for his gun? Do they not have clubs and tazers? Can one not wait for backup? Google white unarmed teen killed by police in Cali..........and I still say fear of a large black "beast(your words)" does not sanction fatal force as the only option.

There's a high resolution video out now that shows the shooting. You can't see the guy's right arm, but he was struggling with the cops for sure, and had a pistol in his pocket. I've watched it a couple of times, and from what I can tell the only way the cop would have known he had a gun was if he was pulling it out of his pocket. I think this was probably a justified shoot, since the guy was carrying the gun illegally, and had already brandished it before the cops got there.

Here's the video and I'm warning you ahead of time, Apple won't be using this on their "Shot with an iPhone" commercials. You're about to watch a man die in high resolution if you click on it.

Made a difference? I don't see a positive difference.

Btw sadly another police officer was ambushed (in MO) and shot today. So it is now trending.

Have you heard of the "Ferguson Effect"? The difference I see is police officers now engage less with the community and now murder, assault and rape are SkYROCKETING in most major urban community across the board US.

I see a difference and it isn't positive.

Happened in south GA today as well. The differences I'm seeing are heavily weighted on the negative side instead of positive.

they tazed him twice, no effect.
wait for backup? he had a gun. he was a felon. has a laundry list for a rap sheet. he was actively resisting them. they were called in because he was reported to have been brandishing the weapon earlier.

and yes beast, we have already been over this. in that situation, I think that is a very apt description. don't you dare try to twist it to anything more than that.

put YOURSELF in their shoes. what would you do, in EXACTLY the officers position?

they tried other "less lethal" options, they failed. the logical progression is to STOP the threat. which is what he was.
a lethal option will almost always indeed do that. good call I say.

based on how they were wrestling around, it may very well have become visible in his pocket..
either way, they clearly knew it was there. they did not pat him down, but immediately pulled the gun directly from his pocket.

Yeah. This guy may not have deserved to die, but he certainly put himself in that position. You can't fight with cops with a pistol in your pocket. They gave him several chances to give up.

I see it everyday but in my area, blacks being the perpetrator is much more prevalent than it coming from whites. My Facebook feed for the last 48 hours has been filled with anti-white (and anti-police) sentiments. I hear "cracker" many more times than I hear "******" on a daily basis. Highlighting one form and completely ignoring, or even justifying, the other form is what diminishes any positive change that could possibly come from any of the recent movements.

There is no excuse for the targeting of cops. Especially random targeting. This black lives matter group is a racist mob. To say one race of people matters and not others is racist. They constantly shout down protesters with "all lives matter" signs. That to me shows that they only care about black lives. Racist racist racist! It would be construed as racist if a group of people carried signs that say "white lives matter". But only white peoples can be racist today.

The bottom line is this group has turned in to a mob. When it was forming in Missouri they were chanting "what do we want? Dead cops. When do we want them? Now". And "you take one of ours. We will take two of yours".

That is a direct threat against the police and then the ambushes began. The current presidential administration has done nothing to help the police. To the point that today the AG said don't let this cop killing quiet you. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/loretta-lynch-dallas-shooting-225296
Well maybe they need to quiet down for a bit and let the facts come out.

Instead of enabling lawlessness they should be asking for calm and civility. They are doing nothing of the sort. This is disgusting.

And as far as communicating with each other. That will need to be done on a city to city, state to state level. Obviously it can't happen on the federal level. Anytime a crime is committed with a firearm they (federal government) want nothing to do with addressing the problem. All the left wants to do is tighten gun control and the right wants to do just enough to fight it so they can get re-elected. It's truly disgusting on both sides.

Racial tensions are worse now than anytime in the 40 years I have been alive. If you actually look at the pattern it's looking a lot like "separate but equal". That didn't work last time. Why should it work now. There is black on black gun violence every day in Chicago. Why don't we see BLM protestors marching through inner city neighborhoods. Because why? I will be waiting for that answer. FYI over 60 people were shot over the 4th of July weekend in Chicago. Did the national media cover that? It's truly horrible and disgusting that we as a people have become so lazy and meek as citizens that when something like this happens we just have the urge to say "well that didn't happen in my city. That's somebody else's problem." The Minnesota shooting of the concealed carry gentleman probably would have been a lot less likely to happen if for the last year or two there hadn't been calls from BLM and similar groups to kill cops.

We have a group of people that say God doesn't exist and I don't want you to talk about God around me. The same group usually says guns aren't necessary and we need to ban or highly restrict them. And cops are racist A-holes. But when the rubber hits the road and the S hits the fan involving them and the possibility the sever and or fatal harm may befall them. The first thing they do is call for the cops with guns. Then pray to god they get there in time.

If someone doesn't like Cops, God, or Guns. I have no problem with that. But don't ask for them when you are in a time of need.

Climbing off my soapbox

May god have mercy on all the affected people of this violence. And may God rest the souls of the fallen.

Stay calm people and be civl to each other at a minimum.

maybe not. but I have a hard time feeling bad when a career criminal gets taken out of society.

Then I stand corrected....did not know he was tazed twice and did not go down. So the moral of the story is if you are a big male, submit or die. I totally get it now.

As far as the Black Lives Matter crowd, I just talked to a buddy of mine in Dallas who had spoken to a good friend of his who's a Dallas police officer and was down there when all this was going on. He told my buddy that after the shooting had stopped and the wounded and dead officers had been taken away there was still a large crowd of blacks that was assembled there yelling at the remaining police officers that they were next, as well as other unmentionable taunts. Of course the media has neglected to show any of this. The officer indicated that it was unbelievably infuriating.

Why are the Black Lives Matter protesters focusing their frustration on police officers rather than at murderers in their own communities?

FBI data shows that ~90% of all black homicides are committed by black perpetrators. Police officers are only responsible for a small fraction of black homicides. [1]

This is not to say unjustifiable black homicides committed by police are not worthy of protesting, but they are the only black homicides that the Black Lives Matter folks actually get upset with in the first place.

When an innocent black child in Chicago is shot in gang-related incident, there is no nationwide outrage and accompanying protests. When a black suspect is killed by a black police officer, they don't care to protest. (And studies show black police officers are MORE likely to shoot at suspects than white officers.) [2]

It's almost as if the people in the Black Lives Matter movement care more feeling like oppressed victims and about fostering racial division than actually addressing the nature of black homicide.

Furthermore be warned its actual facts and statistics

The fairest way to decide whether police are more violent with blacks is to ask whether there are more police killings per crime for blacks than for whites. The reality is the opposite of what is being claimed by Washington, the media, and many around the country. Per violent crime committed, police are much more apt to kill white people than black.

Violent Crime Rates per 100,000 Population:Black: 465.7White: 122.7

Killings By Police per 100,000 Population:Black: 0.32White: 0.15

Violent Crimes per Killing By PoliceBlack: 1,455White: 818

In other words, when adjusted for the amount of crimes committed, whites are much more likely to be killed by police than blacks.

Given the constant drumbeat in the media that police are biased against African-Americans, you'd think somebody would have researched the actual data. But, as far as I know, we are the only outlet to have actually looked into it. Media malpractice is now at the root of the violence gripping America.

Shooting police is waking a sleeping giant. None of the BLM remember the heavy handed policing of the 80s when gang violence dominated cities.

Police as a whole are one of the only good things we have left in this country. The media destroys their name, and exaggerates numbers to make them all look like racist maniacs. The fact is, 15 percent of the population commits 50% of murders of ALL races, ages, and socio-economic standing, and a black male age 18 to 25 is 20 times more likely to be killed by a black male age 18 to 25, than a police officer. A police officer of any race or age is 18 times more likely to be killed by a black male than the black male be killed by him.

Remember these are MATHEMATICAL STATISTICS NOT OPINION.

In 2015...

WHITES killed by police 581
BLACKS killed by police 306
HISPANIC killed by police 195
ASAINS killed by police 28
NATIVE AMERICANS 13
OTHER/UNKNOWN 23

If blacks being viciously killed by police is such a problem, why are whites killed nearly 2 to 1?

The problem is NOT race, it is a a social problem.

As of TODAY'S DATE

57.6% of Black households are fatherless. 31.2% of Hispanic households are fatherless and 20.2% of white households are fatherless. The role model of Black communities is gangster rap, NBA players,and drug dealers. How can we ever expect a child to succeed if they're told some invisible racist ghost is always holding them back? They are already defeated by the time they are out of diapers.

Something has to change, and it isn't police, it isn't whites, it isn't blacks. It's the mindset that a group of capable individuals will never succeed, and THAT will only be reconciled when they get solid role models, with the will to succeed. Until then, nothing will change.
