America this week, what the hell?

Something has to change, and it isn't police, it isn't whites, it isn't blacks. It's the mindset that a group of capable individuals will never succeed, and THAT will only be reconciled when they get solid role models, with the will to succeed. Until then, nothing will change.

^I would suggest the president as a positive black role model, but a lot of people here seem to think he's some kind of corrupt criminal as well.

Violent Crime Rates per 100,000 Population:Black: 465.7White: 122.7

Killings By Police per 100,000 Population:Black: 0.32White: 0.15

Violent Crimes per Killing By PoliceBlack: 1,455White: 818

In other words, when adjusted for the amount of crimes committed, whites are much more likely to be killed by police than blacks.

But doesn't that second statistic suggest that Blacks' are killed more, per capita, than white people?

Doesn't that therefore just mean that more innocent black people are being killed? Since your statistic specifies deaths by police PER number of violent crimes, but the second statistic that doesn't adjust for violent crimes, suggests more deaths among blacks.

Right, but my point was that they were individuals who stood up together to try to affect change. They weren't 'leaders' of an organization or millionaires.

If you want to get technical I guess no 'one person' has ever changed national policy based solely on their individual desire or wants. Only by working together with other individuals with similar interests. I interpreted the tone of your post to mean that its useless for us to try, more than no single individual has the power to change policy. Your statement that you wanted to go bury your head in the sand seemed more like the former than the latter.
I really meant that our opinions don't matter lol including mine.

The president bypasses Congress on a daily basis. He is a criminal. Our Constitution specifically protects us from his kind. He is an absolute criminal of the highest degree

Maybe my understanding of what was posted is incorrect, but I think it says blacks commit violent crime at a 3:1 ratio but are killed at a 2:1 ratio.

Everything about BLM, from the name to the chants to the anti police hatred is a twist of the truth.

A group without a clear mission, leadership, membership or objective. The only thing clear is the name. Simple and to the point. Nothing else matters to them. Not facts, not logic, not perspective.

I really hope the civil rights leaders still left in the country claw back the police reform movement from the violent mob that makes up BLM.

Start a new movement with a new name. One that isn't based on single racial group. One with actual legislative objectives.

Until that happens the country will continue to be very divided.

Please post some examples of how Obama has bypassed Congress.

Funny. The first active criminal to become President.

Well.......Trump loves the uneducated, and they definitely love him, and there are plenty out there! Geez.

That was the OP's point I believe. My point was that when you look at the statistics separate from the violent crime stats. (That is you don't focus on the 465.7 per 100,000, or 0.4% that commit violent crimes) you see that the rate of killings by police is significantly higher for black people. So if you are among the 99.6% of black people who dont commit violent crimes you're slightly more than twice as likely to be killed by a police officer.

PS- I followed the links provided by the OP, but couldn't find the specific data he was referring to. So all of this is based off of the figures provided in that post. I have not verified them for myself.

They are not even an organization or group. No structure or framework. They are an online forum no different than this one. It has no base or credibility so why do we provide it by acknowledging it? The people you see are simply protesters, rioters, and thugs and should be treated as such. BLM is a meaningless phrase and acronym used by stupid people and acknowledged by equally stupid people.

I see it everyday but in my area, blacks being the perpetrator is much more prevalent than it coming from whites. My Facebook feed for the last 48 hours has been filled with anti-white (and anti-police) sentiments. I hear "cracker" many more times than I hear "******" on a daily basis. Highlighting one form and completely ignoring, or even justifying, the other form is what diminishes any positive change that could possibly come from any of the recent movements.

Heavens to Betsy, even us whites are suddenly oppressed victims who can relate. I should probably start worrying about being murdered in my vehicle bc of the legal Glock in there eh?

Satire aside, your anecdotal false equivalence is just that.

They just get angry if you ask for proof of their unfounded claims. It's all black peoples fault, everything.

Every time you personally are provided proof you walk away and move on something else to "debate". The reality I can keep posting facts and statistics but it won't matter because you will dismiss them to further promote your self justification in each thread regardless of logic and truth.

Here's some "politically incorrect" facts about police shootings and race:

1. A study published in the Journal of Experimental Criminology used high definition video deadly force scenarios based on 30 years of official data on officer-involved shootings in the United States to conduct experiments meant to analyze when people (i.e police officers, civilians, and former military) would use deadly force in a confrontation.

The researchers found that, "participants took longer to shoot Black suspects than White or Hispanic suspects. In addition, where errors were made, participants across experiments were more likely to shoot unarmed White suspects than unarmed Black or Hispanic suspects, and were more likely to fail to shoot armed Black suspects than armed White or Hispanic suspects. In sum, this research found that participants displayed significant bias favoring Black suspects in their decisions to shoot." [1]

2. A similar study published in the Criminology & Public Policy tested 80 police officers to see how their use of deadly force reacted to a suspect's race.

The authors found that, "officers were slower to shoot armed Black suspects than armed White suspects, and they were less likely to shoot unarmed Black suspects than unarmed White suspects." [2]

3. Another 2016 study published in Criminology & Public Policy looking at determinants of police use of deadly force in St. Louis found that, "neither the racial composition of neighborhoods nor their level of economic disadvantage directly increase the frequency of police shootings." [3]

4. "A March 2015 Justice Department report on the Philadelphia Police Department found that black and Hispanic officers were much more likely than white officers to shoot blacks based on “threat misperception”—that is, the mistaken belief that a civilian is armed." [4]

5. "A 2015 study by University of Pennsylvania criminologist Greg Ridgeway, formerly acting director of the National Institute of Justice, found that, at a crime scene where gunfire is involved, black officers in the New York City Police Department were 3.3 times more likely to discharge their weapons than other officers at the scene." [4]

6. "Some may find evidence of police bias in the fact that blacks make up 26% of the police-shooting victims, compared with their 13% representation in the national population. But as residents of poor black neighborhoods know too well, violent crimes are disproportionately committed by blacks.

"According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, blacks were charged with 62% of all robberies, 57% of murders and 45% of assaults in the 75 largest U.S. counties in 2009, though they made up roughly 15% of the population there." [4]

Much of this evidence challenges the assumption that police officers are shooting black suspects solely based on their race, or that white police officers are more likely to shoot black suspects than black police officers.

Note: It should go without saying that all unjustifiable police violence, whether motivated by race or not, should be condemned and that this is not a defense of the actions of individual police officers, the police state, etc.

I merely doubt, based on this evidence, the legitimacy of the claim that deadly force used by law enforcement is inherently racially biased against black people. If anyone has strong evidence I am wrong, I will happily change my mind.

Besides using executive orders when congress won't do what he wants. Funny when Bush did it he was a outlandish criminal in violation of the constitution. But when Obama does it?

One specific example is how Obama care was pushed. All bills that are a tax as Justice Roberts called it. Must and I say must originate from the House of Representatives not the senate. When the House of Representatives would not pass Obama Care he actually forced the House to vote on the Senate version. While I fault the house for not having the stones to stand up and refuse to be bullied. The fact the he and I repeats he said he was taking action and putting the Senate bill and placing it before the House of Representatives to have them vote on it. Make him in violation of his oath of office to uphold the constitution.

Use the google to look it up. Compare at least 5-7 different news stories and you might get the truth. The problem with today's media is they never follow up with a story. It's just the next thing up to report on.

Back to executive orders. They are supposed to be used only in time of emergency need. Look at the new firearms trust bill 41P. It is based on an executive order because he could not get congress to vote for his gun bill. It is a paperwork snafu that only creates more money needing to be spent by law abiding citizens.

It now requires finger prints and photos to be submitted every time a NFA items is purchased for a trust. So to get a concealed carry permit I need to pass a normal background check and submit my finger prints once. But to purchase an NFA item aka suppressor or have a SBR ( I need to submit new prints and photos each time. Will my prints change over time? They have my photo on file with my drivers license. And most people looking to spend that much money to legally purchase a suppressor or SBR have a drivers license and a cat. It is just being used as an intimidation factor. As criminals that want to procure these items will not follow the law and they will buy on the black market. Once again by executive order only law abiding citizens have to go through more steps.

The House of Representatives is supposed to draw up the laws and approve them. Then the Senate reviews them and approves them or rejects them. Then they go to the president to be approved or rejected. If these laws get followed then we have a series of checks and balances. If they don't we have a dictatorship. The constitution spells this out clear as day. It's just we no longer follow the constitution. It is called a outdated document. Rome will fall again if we don't wake up soon. The power is with the people unless we relinquish it. Then we deserve nothing but to be serfs.

I am in no way saying we should all think alike. But we should all realize that absolute power corrupts absolutely. And with how we have career politicians at this point. I would saw power and corruption is rampant in Washington DC and most all states. Term limits on all federal offices including SCOTUS is a good start but should also be brought down to the state and city level. Abolish the electoral collage and at the point your vote truly counts and most of those who have lost faith and hope that they could make any difference should wake up and pay attention.

Rant over

This thread definitely evolved. I haven't read after page 1 and I started the thing.

Nonetheless, what a week in American history.
