You've got it backwards friend- I don't rely on the government, they rely on me.

I do like getting some return on my investment/taxes, albeit a grossly small one and in a lot of ways I do not want or need or use.

I grow most of my own food, make the vast majority of my own beer and wine and cheese, generate most of my own power, hunt for my meat, etc. I barter for most other things and everything else I can't make or trade for I pay for in FRN's.

I realize we need a small limited government, I'm a proponent of a lean mean .gov machine.

I am not a statist, I do not like big government and I do not like crony capitalism.

I have a nice piece of land that's off grid and the goal is to build it up and move there to self sustain.

No one can really ever fully escape the government- unless they go out into the hills where absolutely no one will ever go and live a rigid tough life.

My comment was not literal, I will always fight for what is right and just and won't give up on what My vision is of a better America and a better/smaller government.

I will always rejoice in the good in life, sing a song to raise my spirits, even when everything may be falling apart, I will not allow it to change what or who I am. I will celebrate life and be me, I will never let go of what's important to me and always stand against what is wrong.

Even if things are crashing all around me- I'll live to the fullest no matter what tomorrow holds.

^That's what those words mean to me.

I want to be you, don`t know how.

If you don't think delegates make decisions based off of $$$, well we will just have to disagree...

No, we're not going to agree to disagree. You're just WRONG.

The electoral college hasn't gone against the popular vote any time in modern history. They're not bought and paid for, they vote how the state's voters tell them to vote.

Now, either post some proof of this buying and selling of electoral votes, or drop this BS.

I swear some of you guys are so whacked out on conspiracy theory's I'm not sure how you get out of bed and go out into the world.

Trump won the primary, big time- do you truly believe it's just a bunch of angry white men, that's it, and everyone else who didn't vote for him in the primary is uber enlightened, calm and non-white?

You give it a rest. People are fed up with the status quo and that's how we got Trump, would have gotten Bernie if Clinton and the DNC didn't work together to torpedo him.

Trump is the result of how massively and genuinely fvcked the system is as a whole.

No, Trump is a result of how screwed up the Republican party is after spending the last four years doing nothing but WHINE about Obama.

If you think Trump has any real support beyond the angry white male vote, you're not living in reality. He's polling at 1% with blacks! 1%!! His poll numbers with Hispanics are the worst in modern history for a Republican candidate.

The Republicans have put up a candidate that has absolutely ZERO chance of winning this race. NONE. And you're going to get four years of Hillary because you have your head up your ass and won't field a candidate that's mainstream enough to win. Congratulations on putting the least liked Democratic candidate in history into the Whitehouse. Great work! :violin:

Q: How many times was a president elected who did not win the popular vote?
A: It has happened four times.
FULL ANSWER
The 2000 election was the most recent when the candidate who received the greatest number of electoral votes, and thus won the presidency, didn’t win the popular vote. But this scenario has played out in our nation’s history before.
In 1824, John Quincy Adams was elected president despite not winning either the popular vote or the electoral vote. Andrew Jackson was the winner in both categories. Jackson received 38,000 more popular votes than Adams, and beat him in the electoral vote 99 to 84. Despite his victories, Jackson didn’t reach the majority 131 votes needed in the Electoral College to be declared president. In fact, neither candidate did. The decision went to the House of Representatives, which voted Adams into the White House.
In 1876, Rutherford B. Hayes won the election (by a margin of one electoral vote), but he lost the popular vote by more than 250,000 ballots to Samuel J. Tilden.
In 1888, Benjamin Harrison received 233 electoral votes to Grover Cleveland’s 168, winning the presidency. But Harrison lost the popular vote by more than 90,000 votes.
In 2000, George W. Bush was declared the winner of the general election and became the 43rd president, but he didn’t win the popular vote either. Al Gore holds that distinction, garnering about 540,000 more votes than Bush. However, Bush won the electoral vote, 271 to 266.

I would say 2000 was "modern history".

You crack me up, I'm not even a registers Republican, and in CO that means I can't vote in the primary- not that it would have matters this year anyway.

Again with the insults. Try discussing without them, your point may get across better and we can debate together instead of me debating and you arguing and being so "angry white male" about it.

If you think the only folks that voted trump in the primary are "angry white males" you're dillusional.

Polls at this time of year mean very little. More than 13% undecided; and the undecided vote typically goes against the party currently in The White House.

The GOP/establishment Republicans did nothing BUT try to STOP trump from getting the bid- the primary voters gave it to him and it wasn't just "angry white guys" like you believe- that's a fairytale bro. Back it up with some sources and facts or quit positing that BS!

If you can't understand that- we have nothing else to discuss.

Take care buddy.

Bottom line is everybody on here is wrong except Jeremy. Sadly I think that most of those cooped up in their house and working on computers all day couldn't live off grid in the least. But thats what would happen if we have a not unheard of change in events.

Those that get out and work for a living. Build stuff, hike, hunt and fish, and generally spend time outside have a better than average chance. Those that have friends and family they do it with will have a higher chance than individuals. Those that sit at home and play video games, or hang out on the street corner doing illicit stuff would probably die from exposure. Shit happens. Virtually every American that has gone through middle school has heard the phrase "those that fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it." You don't have to look that far back in our own history to realize no matter how great things are at the moment it could take a complete crap in a matter of months to years 1930's should do it. The people that did well and helped others farmed their own food, hunted, and raised and slaughtered animals if they had the ability to get some baby animals.

I remember listening to my grandmothers tell stories about watching it happen and then living through it. They were lucky. One lived on a farm in the Minnesota area the other lived on a homestead in Washington. Both remembered neighbors and people they had never seen outside of church brining wagons to the farms and asking for food so their families could live. Some traded skills and goods. Others just needed food.

I know you're a bad ass marksmanship instructor in the marines probably supper hunter gather and you have confidence to spare. And that's awesome if for some reason we had another Great Depression you would probably be able to help a lot of people. But for you to criticize or belittle people for doing the best they can to be self sufficient and lean to take care of themselves is puzzling.

Conspiracy are just theory's until they happen. If I told you in the 80's that there would be a federal government ban on the sale of any new manufactured "assault weapon" you would have said I was crazy. If I said that the government would give 100's of millions to private business in trade for part ownership of them till they could pay back their loans crazy again. What about a president saying he want to have a National Civilian Security Force. Crazy again but said by Obama in a speech in 2008. So yea it's crazy till it happens. Are some ideas out there absolutely and I hope they stay that way. But some have a tendency for coming true.

Ha! That's me! I'd be so f'd if that were to happen. If starvation did t get me, one cold winter would. My only shot would be to make a run to Mexico. At least I know how to fish and such there. Fresh water may be a bit more of an issue, but I know where there are a few wells.

I definitely get outside quite a bit, but what I do outside would be almost completely useless in a survival situation.

Or, you can pack your bag and head out to the boon dock. Live off the grid. Rely on your own two hands and feet (assuming you have all your limbs).

Everything, EVERYTHING, you do the government have their fingerprints on. From the computer or phone you're using now, to the crap you put in your stomach, to the fuel you use for your car (diesel?).

Our government is like anything else in this country. They have, gasp, flaws. I think they do what they do to keep America safe and running as best they can. But they're not perfect by any means.

You don't have to sink with the rest of us. Stop relying on the government and you'll be set free of this oppressive state we're in.

Just sayin...
well, except that our illustrious government has deemed that to be illegal. well, I suppose I shouldn't say our government, as im not 100% they are responsible. but, you cant be without services, nor can you collect rainwater legally. so for all intents and purpose, yeh off the grid living isn't legal...

you are blaming him directly? bwhaha.

QFT.

I've been noticing this a lot in the last few years. Any facts presented that the other side doesn't agree with is just hit with a blanket 'liberal media' claim as if that automatically discredits whatever they say.

That knife cuts both ways friend.

It's funny and quite sad to see both sides of the isle constantly point fingers at the other side and blame everything on "them". Very few will point that keen observational eye at their "side" and see the wrongs.

Both R's and D's have done great damage to this country. Both sides of the media play the exact same games and spout propaganda.

We live in a world that resembles a bit of 1984, a bit of animal farm and a bit of a brave new world. It's maddening. Those books were not meant to be road maps...

Both sides are pitted against US; the lowly serfs. And both sides are doing a fabulous job of pitting US against one another. Don't fall for it.

Yeah, so what do you think happens if all 300 million Americans try to live like that?

good question.
personally, I think that could be one of the best things for this country. the government would have to make decisions and changes quickly. and they would. as they CANNOT function or operate without us. they work FOR us, and BECAUSE of us.

now, I ask you the same question, what do YOU think would happen?

Interesting to see Steve Bannon take charge of the Trump campaign.

Bannon whom now runs Brietbart after his mentor and hero, Andrew Brietbart died. Shortly before Andrew Brierbart died he called Bannon "the Leni Riefenstahl of the Tea Party movement."

Does everyone to who Riefenstahl was? Hitler's leading propagandist and filmmaker.

Ahh, dropping the "H" bomb I see.

Would you agree that Brietbart linking Steve Bannon to Hitler is a pretty juicy tidbit? I would too, but here's the problem.

It's left wing media whore Joshua Geeen from Bloomberg reporting, and only him reporting that Briebart made this link to Hitler. Brietbart died March 1, 2012 and Green only reported this one-on-one, no recording conversation, 3 1/2 years after Brietbart died.

Why, oh why, sit on this bombshell so long? Hmmmm...could it have to do with Beietbart being long dead and unavailable to refute Green's unsubstantiated claim and the need to sell a sensational story?

I've found hundreds of people who have compared ndcent to Hitler; it's just unfortunate they are all dead so you can't ask them. But trust me, they all said ndcent is as bad as Hitler.

Struck a nerve, eh? LoL. All I said was it was interesting.

I don't think Comrade Trump is all that comparable to Hitler, he's too stupid.

Nope, Trump's not my man.

I'm pointing out that the Internet is full of millions of people repeating what someone said. This does not make it truth.

The lib sheeple are so easily manipulated by their media masters.

I know, I know, it hurts the lib head when critical thinking is applied.

You were caught passing off bs as truth so just accept that you are a sheeple.

People who use that ridiculous sheeple phrase I find are some of the most hearded out there, lol.

Also bc you can't prove its true doesn't mean it's false.

Thanks for your valuable input as always, those damn divisive libtards!

it is a good word though, you have to admit. its an accurate description of a certain type of person.
I don't really see it being used as a derogatory term though. its more a descriptor.
the funny thing is, those they get most upset by that word, usually are being accurately described by it...

Not offended by it, nor do I view it as derogatory necessarily just makes me feel sorry for the simple people who use it. If I had to lower myself to its use it would remind me of the "build the wall" ditto heads out there.
