Amount of Labor required to replace Xreas with Billstein?

Hi there!

I was curious what the average time this type of labor would take? How long at a professional shop? How long if someone was working on it in their own garage?

I just want to know what to expect. I've tried searching the forum and haven't been able to find a clear cut answer.

If you've had similar work done on your truck and can share the cost/time it took that would help as well!

Any help or estimates is greatly appreciated.

if you can turn a wrench you can take it off yourself... I have not done mine yet but I will when my lift comes in from the group buy.

What if I can't turn a wrench because I have 2 torn labrums in my shoulders and have had surgery the last 5 years? I also have two ACL replacements from previous injuries that makes it hard for me to squat down.

Well then you are in a predicament then. I wouldn't say that removing the XREAS should take more than an hour at any shop. That is from lift up to lift down. But where you will be replacing the XREAS with bilstein shocks it would probably take about 4 hours or so. Might take longer with alignment etc.

Maybe we could start having people time themselves for work that they do as part of a fitbit challenge....

Had the XREAS replaced on my '06 Sport last year. The shop charged one-hour of labor to strip it out and two-hours for installing new Bilsteins and coils on all four corners— $300 total.
