Amp switch wires smoking

I have a sony explode cd player that came with my truck that does not have a remote line or spot to hook one up. When i got it it had an small kenwood amp hooked up to some speakers. The amp is hooked up to a switch and an unruly passenger ended up ripping off my 3 prong spdt switch and i cannot figure out how to hook it back up. I tried doing it with a 3 prong rocker switch. I don't understand how this switch is suppose to work like the remote line. Any ideas?

I was working with it more and I am pretty sure the amp is blown, but thanks for reading.

The 3rd terminal on the switch is to light it up in the On position.
To check out the amp you could temporarily hook a jumper from the Batt terminal to the Remote on (P Conn) terminal. That will give the amp a turn-on signal.
If it is working, and if the stereo has a power antenna out lead (usually blue), you could use that to trigger the amp.

And there should be a fuse on the amp +12V wire, is that blown?

I tried running a wire from the battery to the remote and it didn't light up. The fuse was also fine.

First, get rid of the scotch tape! Use only electrical tape, but ideally those connections should be crimped and heat shrink wrapped to avoid shorting out.

Second, jump the power from the + on the amp to the p.con. The amp should turn on. If not, check your fuse right there (15 amp), and also check the upstream fuse by the battery on the red power line. If none of that turns it on, then the amp might already be blown.

But a remote "switch" basically just supplies power to the remote (p.con) so the amp knows when to turn on. The thing about a switch is that you might forget to turn it off and it will drain your battery since it's always on.

Can you get a clearer picture of the side of the switch?
