Try to stay with copper as it's the 2nd best conductor we have. Aluminum is the 4th best conductor.
Copper can be soldered for better connections. Aluminum can not.
The only reason we are seeing aluminum wire more now is because of cost. Aluminum is a lot cheaper then copper.
As aluminum makes up 8.1% of the crust surface of our planet. While copper is

Our best conductor is Silver but no way would we see that available in wire form.
And Gold is the 3rd best conductor.
Also in time connection joints of dissimilar metals will react. However, aluminum to copper isnt too bad.
