Amsoil Full Flow & Bypass install.

After filling the two filters with oil and putting the drain plug back in, the system needed approx 2 gal of oil, total. I will be sending out a sample for analysis at 25K miles. Again this system should use the same oil for approx 100K miles. Time and periodic analysis will tell how long the oil will be used. This is NOT guess work.

THE FILTERS CAN BE CHANGED BY REACHING UNDER THE FRONT BUMPER, WITHOUT CRAWLING UNDER THE VEHICLE, TALK ABOUT SWEET!

If you could use a photo editing program to indicate/point to which plugs you are refering to, I may be able to tell you what they are.

BTW, here is a picture - the two plugs are identified by arrows. I'm feeling a bit HIGH STRUNG so I will apologize for the arrows not being neat.

Very nice writeup, almost exactly the same place that I installed mine too. Do you really think that you will be getting 100k miles out of the oil though? Amsoil recommends quite a bit less, although they are being conservative for liability issues, of course. I will still be changing mine every 50k, filter every 10k, and by-pass every 25k.

Also, from what I can remember those plugs arent a part of the engine oil cooler assembly itself.

I really didn't take a good look at the sides of the cooler, but it does look like they are right on the cooler. If I were to guess, they are for some sort additional system or just a drain.

How much oil did you have put in to show full on the dip stick? I will send samples for analysis every 25K miles and as soon as it shows signs of breaking down I will change it. I'll be happy with 50K miles. The MAIN reason for the system is to relocate the filter.

Koz thanks for responding.

See, this is why I thought you were going to instal the BMK 15 by using the Amsoil PLUG to cap off the original engine oil filter cooler/ OEM oil filter mount) and use those "in and out" plugs to get the fluid to and from the Amsoil filters.
 
I can tell you this is a HIGH quality system and I will not worry about modding the OEM setup. Time will tell about how long the oil will last.

Well, I am going to buy this setup and use your excellent write up.

I'm still stuck on those plugs (so please bare with me as I need closure). Now, lets say those plugs are in fact a pressurized "in and out" for the engine oil, would it be wise to add an engine oil cooler that is a radiator type (like the trans fluid radiator).

I really don't think an additional oil cooler is necessary; the V6 & V8 are not that hard on oil. Synthetic oil itself runs 10 to 20 degrees cooler then conventional oil. Also this bypass system acts as a cooler; especially having the filter mount in front of the radiator. The billet filter block has to dissipate some heat. With this setup I think it
 
Great write up Koz. I applied yesterday to be a Amsoil Dealer. I am considering this system on my 4 Runner as well. I plan on running AMSOIL in the engine, front and rear diff as well as the Transfer case.
Im looking forward to the wholesale prices once I become a dealer!

Yes, I became a preferred customer to get the discounts, saved over $50 on the bypass system alone. I also purchased two gal of the Severe Gear 75W - 90. I will try to get it in next weekend. I also will be using the Series 2000 Synthetic grease. Nothing but the best for the Salsa Runner.

Nice setup, you said the system now takes 2 gallons, how many quarts is that and are you changing the air filter or fuel filter or are you just leaving them.
