well guys i hate to tell you this but after 275k my 22re met with a violent and smokey end. it just so happeded to blow up 100 yards from my uncles house and 4 bay shop. couldnt of hapened at a better place i guess. couincadentally this is the same property she sat on uncovered for 8 years before i brought her back to life. i spent a week cutting out rust over the whole body and welding in new steel. after 8 years of sitting i fixed the rust, got new wheels and tires, installed a new battery, and changed the oil. to my suprise she passed ca smog and ran good for over a year. i took out the old 22re and u can see straight through the bottom of the motor. im looking for a good running 22re if anyone has one. i cant justify spending 15 on a rebuildt and am having a hard time finding a used one in my small county. if you guys hear of any options let me know. thanks.:happens:

Good time for a motor swap :)

You can rebuild these motors for not much... under $1,000 with some upgrades like a head and cam.

i agree. thats why im looking for a used motor. i plan on doing a swap but am not ready. hell i may never be ready...lol. i need to get it going bad enough that i feel this may not be the time for a motor swap. finaly looked at your build. nice work....

Explain to me how you can rebuild a 22re for less than 1k svdude. What machine shop are you taking engines to? Shoot Bad-Vision cant even buy a windsheild for less than that!

it all depends on what you want to spend and how far you go on rebuilding and if the block is good.

If your have a bad ring and the motor has no compression then you can re ring it for 150$

if you throw a rof bearing then you get a master rebuild kit for 400$ and put new the bearings and seals in without machine work on the block.

the machine shop is the biggest expense if you can avoid the machine shop you can get a rebuild done by yourself for under 800$

all the extras are what will kill you.
 
rcp im in humboldt county. whats been done to em and how much do you want? vision are yours untouched? 170 is pretty low for a 22re. what would you charge for 1? thanks for the replys.
 
mine are untouched in michigan the bodys rot out before the motors go.

#1 167,000 miles new head gasket and timing chain with HD rails all new gaskets from bottom up. 500+ shipping
#2 170,000 miles history unknown ran when pulled from my truck for a v6 swap. shipping cost +50$ to crate it up and strap in down. THIS ENGINE IS ONLY FOR SOMEONE WITH A BLOWN ENGINE. i dont want someone selling there 4runner just because they cant afford a rebuilt engine.

i think i fit in that catagory lol. not to seem ungratefull but i was checking your posts and noticed u were having issues with the one from the 87 u swapped for a 3.4. did that get resolved or would i need to work on it? on the other hand....its way better than what i got now. i can see through the damn thing. thanks for your reply.
 
id really like to buy the 1 but am strapped atm. i run dozer but the weathers bad on the coast and we wont be going back to work till june. lucky to have a company truck i guess.
