Another Bilstein 5100 question

Checked with a couple of local shops here in DFW and found that Front 5100s can be had within 3-days but no word on rears. It could be 3-weeks or 3-months.
So I am thinking of getting hold of Fronts, get it installed with .85 setting and keep the rear stock. Stock shock, stock coil, just until I get hold of rear 5100s and then make the change for rears.

I know couple of folks did 5100s all around set at .85 to level it out. But can this be done with Front 5100s at .85 and rear completely stock?

This would not be a problem at all.

Received a set of 5100s today

I received a set of 5100s today and I have a set of 2inch Icon rear coils that were gifted to me.

With the 5100s at the 2 highest settings can they be paired with the rear 2inch icon coils and look/ride ok? Has anyone done a set up like this? This will be my first lift.

Looking at OME 2884 2.5" coils on front, OME 2895 2" springs in back.

In short, it's fine.

I currently have 5100s paired with Dobinsons coils that are roughly the same height, and they work great.

The thing to remember is that the shocks and the coils are essentially independent. With stock, or at least stock height coils, you can use the adjustable 5100s to get some leveling height IN THE FRONT ONLY.

However, if you're getting lift up front from larger coils, you will want the front shocks set on the lowest perch. The height comes from the springs at that point, not the shocks.

Apologies, I must have misread the intent of your question.

I like the current stance, it's pretty much level at the fenders. Though that's changing a bit as I add the weight of the front bumper and skid.

The ride is pretty good, road driving is comfortable. I'm just finding I have to take larger speed bumps a little slower than I used to.

I’m sure I’ll have to do liner mod. But I really don’t want to give up the mud guards.

On my current 4R I have the Bilsteins at 1.75 in front using factory springs and I have the 275 AT3s, no rubbing or issues up front. But I am using factory TRD wheels with no spacers/offset.

Here is where I landed and my thoughts..

21 4runner Venture

installed 5100's on all 4 corners set to lowest settings
OME 885 springs front and rear
285 Toyo AT3

Alignment came in good, but caster is 1 degree to the rear.

I had a small amount of rubbing on the liner and front mud flaps. Modded the liner and mud flaps a bit and have had no issues since.

Truck doesnt sit quite level, still a tiny bit of rake. The ride is pretty close to factory, nose dive isn't as bad, but still noticeable.

Getting 4 bilsteins and cornfed 3/4” installed Thursday.
Mechanic doing alignment as well.
Should I wait for a few days to get the alignment or just have him do it time of install?

For reference I ended up going with 265 KO2 and I only rub in full lock reverse on driver side mud flap. Need to break out the heat gun eventually…
Loving the way the 4Runner looks now.

I just completed the exact setup on my 2018 ORP. Very pleased with the results. These should have been the factory shock or at least the Bilstein 4600 like the Tacoma use to be in my opinion. Bilsteins and Michelin Defender M/S combination makes all the difference on this truck for a road setup.

Used the 1.75" setting up front and a 0.75" Cornfed spacer in the rear.

Switched to Pro wheels and new tires. Tires are LT load range C General Grabber ATX 265/70/17 (would not have been my first choice but they were essentially new and came with the wheels when I bought them). Aligned, swapped TPMS, and balanced tires.

Quite happy with how it came out!
