Another Black To Chrome Part Swap Question - Rear Emblem / Door Handles

First, I have to say that this forum is awesome! Tons of great info, pictures, write-ups, and resources. Last week I purchased a 11' Limited blk/blk 4runner. It is awesome and I couldnt be happier.

The only aspect I dislike about the truck is the chrome. I was hoping to swap out a few parts to correct the issue.

I want to replace the rear "toyota wings" and the door handles with parts from either a trail or canadian spec vehicle that is black.

MY QUESTIONS:

1. Does anyone know if either the trail/canadian spec trucks can accommodate the: (A) limited back-up camera; and (B) push-button window up/down feature?

2. Does anyone know if the Canadian spec vehicles can accommodate the "touch lock" feature that is built into the handle on my limited?


I stole the picture below from Sp8Ball's thread (which is AWESOME btw - so much GREAT info). It shows what I am looking for but it has the key-hole only.

2: You'd only be able to switch the outer chrome covering. The inner part has the touch sensor which you'd have to leave. Check out harper7 thread.

The easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to paint the parts.

If you're worried about painting just remove them and get some 3M vinyl. I've used it for chrome swaps on all my vehicles and actually like it better than paint. It's a whole lot easier of an install and don't have to worry about overspray, drying times, etc. It is also reversible if needed also. Just my opinion.

Yes you just de-badge, wrap, then re-apply with 3M double sided plate. You don't have to remove everything though. Some people have done the chrome strips while still on the truck. Check out the videos on youtube. Easy as pie. 3m vinyl application - YouTube
