So, I've scoured through here.....read alot of posts about p0051, p0045, p00420, and every other code that points back to O2 sensors.
So, I went a round with mine last week that about drove me insane. I installed.......cough, cough......some cheap Ebay sensors. Didn't think much about it. Ran great that night.....then popped a MAF code. I thought way too deep into, assuming that it changed the mapping of everything, and perhaps my MAF really was bad.
Put in a salvage MAF, just to see what it'd do. No better. That same day, it started running really rough. Past 3k RPMs, it would fall on it's face. So, I was really baffled and worried at that point. My Toyota mechanic friend was out of town, so he gave me a list of things to check. He said at this point to forget the o2 sensors....I have something more serious going on.
Long story short, I end up having a bunch of bad coil packs. Replaced them, got it idling and running 50% better, but still the stumble at 3k rpms. We were both baffled. Also note, I put the factory o2 sensors back in at this point.
I'm sitting on the shitter one morning, and stumble across this dude with a Sienna....same exact symptoms.......and it was his EFI no.2 fuse.
Sure enough......my dang fuse was blown, causing this circle jerk all along.

Soooo.....I'm kinda back to square 1. It's running fine.....just some upstream o2 sensor codes. 51 and 35. I tried one of the Ebay o2 sensors again......popped the fuse. So, after some cussing of the seller and realized they probably have an internal short, I tried a different Ebay sensor, and no fuse popping, but still both o2 sensor codes. (both upstream)
Sooooo.........I'll most likely order Denso sensors, anyways, but my question is this:
I'm getting the "I told you so" from my mechanic buddy about not buying factory sensors. He claims Toyota put out a sensor pack........2 upstream sensors, 1 part number. It's some sort of known o2 sensor issue, according to him, but I've not seen anything on here or anywhere else that mentions it. All I've read is that they eventually go bad, likely from bad cats.
Any of you try this? My second choice is still using Denso sensors, but get them for a third the cost from Rock Auto or Ebay.
