Had a chance to get the rack back on for another test fit. Here are a few more photos on the truck for those of you who requested them.
Last photo is of the front mount - spacer is passing through the weather stripping to the plusnut.

not bad. I would still like to see it follow the roof line better and I would want the cross bar mounting locations lower

I'm still having a hard time telling what was done with the front feet. Are they bolted in, or do they rest on the weather stripping? Hoping for the latter.
The front mounting points are bolted in using a plusnut. The 3/4" spacer is passing through the weather stripping.

Welp, that counts me out. I'm not comfortable with doing that to my truck myself.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I was pumped initially when I saw this rack but I'm not comfortable doing that either.

I love the idea of 80/20 rail for roof racks. So versatile.
As far as the front mounts, maybe we can come up with a less permanent and less leaky solution. Something like - just kinda brain storming here - clear bra patches then epoxy aluminum pads to them. The stuff sticks like crazy and some epoxies will bond with urethane. It really only needs to support weight, not really hold the rack in place. A nice wide strip to cover from side to side along the front and a wide foot that sits across the entire front of the roof would give you wide weight distribution and lots of purchase.
Another option might be to epoxy in a semi permanent foot pad right in the channel. Removal would require possibly some heat and a hammer?, but it could be completely removed without major damage.
Otherwise I'd be more inclined to weld in something rather than drill holes through that might leak later.
