Another Gobi rack thread...

I want to get a flat rack. Not going to put any lights on top any more. The flat rack will work better with my future purchase of a RTT.

PM me with a price and I will mull it over.

Now I just need money, though I am torn. I too have been considering a flat rack. Can't really make up my mind on which one I want.

This would be a smoking deal if I had my bonus right now. Dam it!

Well if you do want a GOBI make an offer and I will think it over (realistic offer please). It will be with the sunroof insert and two Rigid 6" SR lights on the back, plus a OTRATTW switch for good measure.

Plus you are close by so I can help with the R&R.

But most likely it will be staying on the truck.

gobi has been around for a while. the gobi stands out from the rest because of the designed.Low profile no wind noise unlike the baja and drabbits racks. Once I was ready to purchase it the wind noise was a big turn off for me. I spoke with both companies bajarack and drabbits and both stated that their racks produce wind noise. not much but enough for me to say NO.:wtf: I had a gobi on my FJ and never had any issues with the wind. Save your money and go for the GOBI. Plus their warranty is one of the best and has pre installed wires for front and rear lights.:banana::banana::banana:

I only get wind noise when there is a crosswind and it's from the wind deflector flexing slightly how I have it positioned. I've seen my rack and a gobi side by side, the gobi might be a little better mostly because it has the better paint job but you are paying more for it.

FYI, Gobi will pretty much customize the rack any way you want it...full mesh, no cross bars, no riser, additional light mounts and I'm sure other things if you just ask.

I also got mine through Trail Duty and I will say that I asked for no riser in the front and a full mesh bottom. However it came with the front riser (which I am now glad because it is just a hair higher than my light-bar) and the bottom still has the gaps. I was a little disappointed at first but got over it when I realized the riser would work as designed (originally I was not going to mount roof lights) and the 2 gaps in the mesh were really no big deal. I would just say if you order any customization through a dealer, follow-up with Gobi to make sure they are clear on what you want (I didn't). Overall I am super pleased with the design, craftsmanship and powder-coating of the stealth.

Ordered mine yesterday with a HiLift Jack mount. All in all, it came out to right around $1750 shipped. Thanks a ton for posting the GOBI100 discount code. Saved myself a cool $100, and every penny counts when I'm spending all my deployment loot on this damn expensive build!

Flat full length Baja.... looks to be the best all around option out there. I was going to go 3/4 frontrunner but everything I read says the noise is horrible!

Serendipitous timing of this thread.
Ducmonsta or anyone else running a RTT:

are cross bars needed on the Gobi to mount the tent? I am picking up an ARB RTT when I get home and the stealth rack I have had it's cross bars removed. I figured the tent should mount fine to either side but not sure if it needs support for the span.

Thanks!

In the interest of accurate information.

Cross bars are not needed to install the ARB Simpson III on the Gobi rack. It rests perfectly on the side bars.

Also I gotta say,
I know this forum has a hard on for their product, which it is a great looking rack, hence why I have one on my truck. But there is absolutely no way I would pay retail for one of these things. If I would have seen the build and finish quality prior to purchase I would have gone with the Camel back.
It is a good rack!
It is not a $1500 rack.

Also they have perhaps the worst customer service/relations I have experienced with any truck related vendor thus far.

I need a favor. I'm a few countries away from my truck and need to put in an order for a box on my roof rack.

I need the dimensions f the rear most segment of the gobi rack. L x W of the last rectangular area by the ladder.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Another one for Gobi

I just picked up a 5th gen that had a gobi rack on it. Love it so far.

Slightly unrelated, it had 4 brackets on it that i can't find online. Any idea what they are?

That is a roll bar mirror mount. You can pick them up at Speedway, Lefthander or any other race car supply house.
