Been putting this together spending about an hour or two after work for about 3 days. This is my first full retrofit. The Morimoto D2S is a straightforward installation for our H4 bulb housings as opposed to using other projectors like that FX-R. My other experiences have involved blacking out housings, installing clear replica lenses for Mazda3 OEM D2S and TL with ZKW-R. I no longer own the Mazda3, but still have the TL and recently acquired an 06 IS350. The 4runner is a newest addition for me and I should have it in a few weeks (Silver 2000 SR5 V6 - pics to come). I've already got Bushwacker flares, and sport edition/limited bumpers, as well as 01-02 grill coming for it that will get body color matched. ; )

AM-Auto Headlights eBay - $77 shipped (Eagle Eyes with glass lens that comes apart easily)
Morimoto D2S Projectors - $120
Apollo Shrouds - Value - $15
Centering Shroud Rings - $10

AP1 S2k Ballast - Already owned
Gun metal paint - $5
800 Grit Sandpaper
Permatex RTV Clear Silicone Sealant - $5

Here are my results:
After 15 minutes in the oven on a damp towel, I was able to pry this apart in about 5 minutes by prying gently on 1 corner and working my way around. By far this is way easier than the long slim TL headlights as well as the Mazda3 ones which both had plastic lenses that were somewhat flexible.
I dremeled out the little lumps that stuck out slightly preventing the projector silicone base to sit perfectly flush. After this, the projector seated perfect and snug.
Apollo shrouds had to be trimmed at the bottom to clear the 4runner housing. The first one took about 40 minutes because I had to fit check repeatedly in order not to cut too much. The 2nd one took 15 minutes.

I picked up a set of AP1 S2K lights a year ago, but unfortunately can't use them on the 4runner because they're not Bi-Xenon, but might try and replace my IS350's sideways mounted D4S HID bowls with the S2K ones for improved output for my next project.

Morimoto High Beam
I used an Antec Earthwatts 380w continuous ATX PSU from my server to power the lights for testing. Found instructions on clublexus as well as HIDplanet.
I went with partial painted housing because I couldn't think of a way to blend a completely blacked out housing along with a stock chrome or clear corner lights. I wanted it to flow and since there isn't an easy way to disassemble corner lights, I got a little creative with the paint scheme.

looks like i might switch to some gatling gun shrouds unless matt at the retrofit source is willing to trade me projectors....
