Won't do nothing really. And definitely do not ever buy bosch +4s for our 4runners. They might work for a little while, but you will start throwing codes.
 
Well, I'm speaking from experience. My car kept throwing misfire codes for all cyl. When I went back to stock plugs those codes went away. Several mechanics I've talked to told me that the bosch plugs don't work well in japanese cars. I don't know what the reasoning behind that is, but maybe it's because you can't adjust the gap on those plugs. If you really want to get better plugs, go with the denso irridium plugs. They are expensive, but are suppose to be good. I'm not sure but our stock plugs might already be platinum or irridium. I can guarantee you tho, you will not see any performance gains.
 
I have always used NGK's in Japanese vehicles. Bosch works best for Euro rides. Champion for Fords and Dodges and GM products get AC Delco.

I have been to a training seminar for spark plugs (back in my 'parts guy' days) and we were taught there is very little differance in plugs, but the minute variances in resistance and such can really work against ECU's. I suggest staying within the above guidelines unless your rig came from the factory with something different, then run those instead.

Aftermarket stuff like Splitfires may work well in the big, non-computer managed domestic V8's, but they do not seem to do well in newer stuff. The Bosch +4 was designed to run with the Bosch ignition systems found in Euro cars...leave them there, they work best there. I use them in my VW's but nowhere else.
 
Speaking of spark plugs, I changed my plugs on my 98 3.4 PreRunner at 50K miles. When I pulled the first plug I couldn't help but notice that it was in NEW condition. So I take out the other two on the left bank and when I took out the first one on the right bank I noticed the plug was worn noticeably more then the other three. At this point I start to get that shitty feeling of something being wrong. After taking out the last two plugs I noticed the right bank of plugs are all showing ware and the left bank was looking new. So I'm thinking why, maybe there is an ignition problem! Then noticed the plugs were different, yes 3 NGKs and 3 Denso. Apparently this was done at the factory. The NGKs were like new and the Denso's were worn. Moral of the story; NOT ALL PLUGS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

P.S. The plugs I put in were +4s, had them in for 30K miles, no problems.

I mean the reason behind me doing the whole, "plug thing" was to see if i could get some xtra juice out of the motor. But the more i talk to people of obvious knowledge on the subject, the desire to do that is now non existant. I guess i am down to the apexi filter charger. I spoke to the guy at the shop, and i have to find out if the hose coming from the engine to the filter would be a 80 MM 75 MM or 70 MM tube. Based on that i would get the filter and slap it on.

Anyone know whati is the hose size for the 04 v6's
 
You could not just get that filter and slap it on. You'd have to make the tubing like the k&n filter charger that comes from the throttle body to the filter. Plus they way our stock filter box is mounted, it would be pointless to put a cone filter there. You'd want to design something like the k&n so it draws in cold air. I plan on making my own intake tube and putting the apexi filter at the end of it, or if I get real lazy I'll just buy the k&n filter charger, and maybe get the apexi filter to replace the k&n but thats $ I don't have. ;): But I really do think the k&n filters are fine. The tests that I posted is like a really extreme situation that our trucks will probably never encounter. And if you really want performance gains, I'd get that supercharger I posted awhile back if it's in production.
 
I was looking at it last night, and i noticed kinda what had to be done. Lets keep in contact, cuz if you're going to fab some sort of tubing kit to make the apexi work, i would def like the directions to do it. But then again, i could always do the k&n. But i don't want to buy a new intake, just so the engine makes more noise

Oh, and what co. have you decided on for the lift. And with that, are they just spacers or, do you have to rip out all the factory suspension and put all new stuff in
 
I'm thinking Revtek. I'll probably get it this spring when it's warmer and I can do it myself. They're 3" front, 2.5" rear and they're spacers. Shouldn't take more than 3 hrs for the install. I've done my M3 suspension (springs, shocks/struts, sways) myself and it wasn't that hard.
 
Is it a package deal, or do they come seperately? Just wondering, cuz i will be damned to show up for another meet, and you have that and i don't

And what is the price tag on that
 
Heh.

The kit comes with the front and rear spacers and a set of rear shocks that won't be used on XREAS 4runners. It's about $500 for the kit. Daystar has a kit for $260 or so but it's poly-something spacers. Revtek is billet aluminum.

Even w/o the lift kit, I don't think you'll be happy at the next meet :p.
 
Nah. Since it's warming up, I'll have time to install the lights and horn. And I got a V1 for the 4runner. I also got a few other things but I'll keep them as a suprise :D.
 
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH COMON. Don't keep that isht a secret. And you got another V1. I have been looking into one of those. Were did you get them. and yes the horns are just about to be ordered.

SO, what else you got comin.
