Another Rear Window Question

Hey guys,

I tried searching but couldn't quite find the answer to my question.

I recently picked up a 1991 runner, and my key will roll down the rear window, but won't roll it up. Is this usual? I notice in the "Key fob hack" thread that on the 4th Gen, the fob only rolls it down.

I can roll it up with the ignition on from the inside, but it's a PITA when out running errands. Before I take the tailgate apart, I just want to make sure the switch is supposed to make it go up.

The key in the tailgate should make it go up or down. Mine will go up but not down. Check the stickies for a cleaning method of the switch. There is also a sticky regarding the relays which are in the drivers side rear kick panel. In my understanding if the interior switch will operate the window it's not the relays, it's the key switch. I could be wrong. I need to fix mine, I just have other things on the list first.

the switch issue is in the electrical switch itself the down contact is closer and on the inside. the up contact is outer and is known to fail do to a no connect issue with the contact but the problem is its a sealed switch and not able to fix youll need a new key switch.

If they are sealed is getting it keyed the same as original possible?

the key part never gets changed just the switch so your old key is all you need.
